REFEREES NEEDED: Referees will be needed for the Fall In-house soccer program which runs from September 6 to November 11, with a break over Columbus Day weekend. Eventually the in-house program referees may train as Assistant Referees for the Travel Team Program and, if they are sufficiently interested, ultimately referee the travel team matches once they have the right combination of age and experience. Please see the details below:
Aspiring referees must be between the ages of 12 and 16, have played soccer previously, understand the sport and want to referee competitive team soccer.
Refs will serve as Recreational Referees for the In House Program. The In House Program consists of 45 minute- matches between teams of players ages 6 – 9. Matches will take place on Saturdays at 11.15 AM and 12.15 PM. Refs will be scheduled according to their travel team schedule. The priority for the refs will always be their travel team game.
Charlestown soccer will provide the training and yellow shirt for these beginner referees.
Referees will be paid at a rate of $10 for each match.
As the new refs develop their skills and knowledge and determine that they are interested in seriously pursuing refereeing they will need to go through the Recreational Referee Grade 9 Course (Grade 9) in order to ref the travel team matches. This is a course that is run by the Massachusetts State Referee Committee. We will provide details at the appropriate time in the future.
If you are interested please sign up at our website or go the the online form under the Inhouse Program tab. For more information contact:
