The Golden Wolves Bantam's took top honors in the 2014 Early Bird Tournament held at the Florida Panthers IceDen, August 21-24, staying undefeated and winning the Bantam A Championship.
The Wolves got off to a quick tournament start defeating the Jr. Panthers 5-1, and then winning again against the Jr. Lightning Blue and the Palm Beach Blackhawks Red teams. The Bantams racked up a 3-0 record in 1st round play with a 24-1 goal differential before meeting the Jr. Lightning White team in the finals. Jacob Rothenberg got the Wolves on the scoreboard first in the final minutes of the opening period, before Andrew Diaz finished late in the 3rd with a safety goal, securing a 2-0 championship victory.
Parker Gainsburg was huge between the pipes throughout the tournament, giving the Wolves 3 shutout wins and only allowing 1 goal during all 4 games. Our boys played selfless team hockey, moving the puck well and getting points contribution from all team members, while demonstrating strong and consistent defense at all positions throughout the tournament.
Congratulations to a perfect start to the 2014-2015 season, and we wish all teams great success during the upcoming season.
