Baseball glove and bat(not necessary). Please have your child wear comfortable athletic type clothes and tennis shoes. Please try and arrive 15 minutes before the start of try-outs so we can instruct the children. Your child will be issued a try-out number at the evaluation session. Simply attach this number to the back of his or her shirt for tryouts. Players must have registered ahead of time to participate in the evaluation session.
What to expect:
We have approximately 40 to 50 players coming for each session. Each child will receive pitches to hit. Each child will then receive grounders to shortstop [throwing to first base] and fly balls [throwing to first base]. Players will then complete a timed run. Certain players may be asked to pitch at a “pitching” station. Throughout the session the managers will be rating each child in hitting, running, fielding and throwing. Within one or two weeks following try-outs managers will select their players.
Try-Out sessions are evaluation sessions. Each player will be run through skill sessions where they will be evaluated. All players will be assigned to a team. These sessions allow us to form fair, competitive teams within each division.
In the event of inclement weather please check the website www.wbsct.org for an update.
