Green Mountain Youth Football is leading the charge when it comes to safety. Our mission this upcoming season is to become the safest youth football organization in the country. We believe youth football (unlike college and professional football) is one of the safest youth sports to play. That being said, there is always room for improvement.
The Green Mountain board of directors voted unanimously to make the following changes to our youth football program this upcoming season:
We strongly recommend and are currently raising money to fit every GM player with a guardian helmet cap. More information to come: https://guardianhelmets.com/
We will limit the amount of contact days during practice
We will mandate concussion training for all head and assistance coaches
We will require national background checks for all coaches
The benefits of playing youth football have never been greater. We believe that youth football is one of the best vehicles to teach life lessons. We are not just teaching kids how to play football. We are teaching our youth how to lead, how to work as a team, how to overcome adversity, sportsmanship and the importance of teamwork and comradery.
