Welcome to the Virginia Athletic Conference

* 2013 8U National Champion Fredericksburg Canes at the Citrus Bowl

Welcome to the premier youth football league in Virginia.....We have a proven record of producing Division 1 Student Athletes. Virginia AAU and the VAC-10 are the fastest growing youth football programs in the region. With the inclusion of Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, King George, Stafford, Dale City, and additional clubs in Central and Southeastern Virginia, VAAU has experienced 35% growth for the two consecutive years.  Our Virginia AAU Football and membership organizations are focused on developing the student athlete throughout their youth, middle school, and high school years. Not only do our organizations support area fall and spring tackle football programs, the majority also offer off season specialized training, clinics, combines and Spring 7-on-7 Tournaments in the local area and travel opportunities to showcase your son’s talents across the east coast.

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Football program was the first national organization to adopt an unlimited weight age based system. Multiple studies have been done; most notable is the Mayo Clinic’s assessment that the least dangerous form of tackle football is “like ages playing with one another regardless of weight. The velocity and form in which football players contact each other is equal when age is equal or closely linked”. Age based weight limited leagues like American Youth Football and Pop Warner create an environment where 9 year olds are playing against 12 year olds. The hitting velocity increases with age and experience. As such, the risk of injury is greatly increased in this environment.

Virginia AAU is a football league that most closely resembles that of middle and high school programs. Age controlled unlimited weight with no minimum play requirement where teams are allowed and encouraged to train, hold events, and grow as a unit throughout the year. Our local governing body doesn’t control an organizations future, stack board members teams, hold personal grudges, or dictate what club a player may play for. Each team holds independent tryouts to retain the most driven student athletes with the high level of dedication to play on their teams.

As a measure of our success, our current and/or former student athletes have received 20+ NCAA Division I and II scholarships. Furthermore, our players have ranked in the Top 10 National Underclassmen and Nike Combines for the last three years running. Finally, Virginia is the strongest and has the deepest youth talent in the country. Our member organizations not only won two of the four 2013 AAU National Championships. They have also successfully won National Championships in the American Youth Football League (AYF), Pop Warner, and Independent Youth Tackle programs and tournaments across the nation.
