2017-2018 Managers

2018-2019

9u Manager

Tom Rogers comes from a baseball background where he played throughout his college years. After school, Tom went back to his roots in his home town of Berkeley and helped coach high school baseball players for a couple years. After getting married and having children, Tom got involved in coaching softball for 8’s, 9’s and 10s and became the girls softball president for the O.T.Y.A. Baseball/Softball Organization out of Chicago Heights, IL. Tom went on to run the Crete Crush 98’s softball team with much team success at the 10s and 12s. Tom also coached withthe Crown Point Bulldogs 98’s, same team that later went on to the Beverly Bandits. Recently, Tom has coached for the Mizuno Hawks 18s. Tom has had much success in the process of helping his players get to the next level throughout their recruitment process. In total, Tom has coached softball for the past 13 years.Tom’s coaching philosophy is very simple. If you practice like a champion you will play like a champion. No matter if your 8 or 18, every day you can learn something knew to master your game. Softball is a life lesson, if you are taught earlier on that hard work pays off then later in life as an adult, you will be ahead of the game. Fundamentals, fundamentals and more fundamentals is the key to softball success. Tom’s plan movingforward with the Chicago Batbusters starting in the fall of 2018 will be bringing in college softball players as assistant coaches helping him with coaching of his team. The team will either consist of all U9’s or a combination of U9s and U10s.

Tom is married to Jennifer Rogers and has 4 children together.

Alexis - Softball player at the University of Tennessee-Martin

10u Manager

Robert Rourke Bio

My name is Robert Rourke and I live in New Lenox, Illinois with my wife Mary, and two children Reese and Cooper. I have been a Local 130 Plumber for 18 years and have a degree in Construction Management. Both of my children are involved in travel softball/baseball and travel basketball. Growing up I also played travel baseball, as well as baseball and football for Rich South High School. I have coached softball for the New Lenox Power and Illinois Celtics; and coached baseball for Rhino Baseball Academy.

My love and passion for softball has led me to accept the 10u Batbusters Manager position for the 2018-2019 season. I am very excited to be working with Ramsey Harkness who will also be helping with coaching responsibilities for the 10u Batbusters.  Our focus will not only be teaching the fundamentals of softball but learning how to compete at very high levels. It is my hope that the girls take everything they learn about being part of a team and carry those experiences into their everyday lives.

Ramsey Harkness Bio

I have been coaching travel softball over the last 13 years. I first found my passion between the chalk in Arizona and, after moving to the area 10 years ago, have been fortunate enough to be around some amazing people with the Dirt Devils, Hawks and currently the Beverly Bandits. Over the last 5 years I have been with the Bandits, taking the 14U Premier squad to PGF Nationals each year. Our top finishes have been 7th at PGF, 3rd at Boulder IDT and 1st at Triple Crown Nationals. During those 5 years I also was the Varsity coach at Reed-Custer High School where I was able to take over a program that had won 8 games in three years and win Regional Championships 3 out of 5 years.

My family, wife and 3 kids, have had the patience to allow my life to revolve around diamond sports over the last 10 years. Not only was I known for coaching, but I have also been known as the “Boombah Guy”- for 3 years and most currently the uniform and equipment guy. As we all know life evolves and I have most recently stepped away from coaching high school and selling uniforms.

I come to the Batbusters-Chicago program with the mindset of instilling great fundamentals at the 10U level and to create a fun winning environment that will set the tone for the rest of these athletes’ careers.

11u Manager  – Ali Franzen

My name is Allie Franzen and I live in Lockport with my husband and four children. I’ve had the pleasure of spending the last twenty years providing professional pitching instructions on a weekly basis. I also played two seasons with the Virginia Roadsters as a professional athlete and four years as head coach of the University of St. Francis Softball Program.

My personal experience as a fellow student-athlete and professional women's softball player instilled in me the competitive drive to demand total commitment from my players and always remain a positive influence o/n and off of the playing field.  My coaching style is to use the game of softball to prepare my student-athletes for life skills to succeed off of the athletic field.

14u Manager Tim Stanton

Coaching Philosophy:

To put forth great time and effort in order to make every player I coach a better player, teammate, leader and young lady.

To share my work ethic, experience and expertise in order to build winning teams through preparedness and continued improvement both physically and mentally.

To provide opportunities for every player I have the opportunity and honor to coach to chase a dream, play college softball at the highest level they choose and graduate with a degree in their chosen field while accumulating the least amount of student debt possible.

I love coaching like most people love money. I am all in and lead by example. This is what I was born to do. I can't wait to coach with everything I've got for Batbusters, Chicago.

Diamonds Softball Academy - Head Coach - DSA 2K1 (12U) - 2013-2014

Dan Langguth

My name is Dan Langguth and I live in Cary, Illinois with my wife Laura, and two kids Taylor & Abby. Both Taylor (age 19) & Abby (age 17) played travel softball for numerous organizations to include the Richmond Jr Rockets, Northern Ice, Genoa City X’Plosion, Diamonds Softball Academy (DSA), Oak Park Windmills and Illinois Stars. Growing up I played youth baseball in addition to high school baseball at Cary Grove High School.

I’ve been in the Municipal Government field of work for over 30 years and am currently the Wastewater Superintendent for the City of Crystal Lake where the environment of teamwork and communication is promoted among the twelve staff members.

I’ve coached travel softball for the past 8 years and have been very fortunate to coach many talented players and successful teams to include Richmond Jr Rockets 01’ Northern Ice Northern Ice 2K1, DSA 2K1 & Northern Ice 2K5. My eight years of travel softball have allowed me to meet and work with some of the best in the game. I’ve watched and learned from others that came before me in order to bring their experience and expertise to my players. To be successful I believe hard work and dedication is required from both the player and the coaching staff. Player development both physically & mentally are the main priority throughout the course of a season. This philosophy is not only required on the softball field, but lessons and behaviors learned transfer over to real life and in other relationships away from softball.

I am very excited and humbled to coach in and be part of the Batbuster organization. I look forward to many exciting and memorable moments on and off the softball field for our players, families and coaching staff

Joe Seiler

I'm married to my beautiful wife Amy for the past 25 years. We have four children 3 girls 1 boy. We live in Oakwood Hills Illinois. I've coached travel softball for 13 years.

Organizations I've coach for  include Crystal Lake Tidalwaves, Lake County fastpitch,  Northern Ice,  and Diamond Softball Academy.

Starting with my oldest daughter and working my way down to my youngest.

As my youngest daughter is about to head to college I found my love for coaching is still as strong as when I first started. I'm excited to have the opportunity to coach the 13u batbusters this year

Bluewave News!!

Exciting announcement for the Blue Wave...starting with the 2018-2019 season, we will be known as the Batbusters, Chicago!

The Batbusters from Orange County, California were founded in 1979 and have won over 30 National Championships, at least one at every age level. Batbuster players have earned over 500 college scholarships, 80% of those scholarships "Full Rides" and 90% at least 70% of the total cost. Check out their website http://www.batbusters.org/ to see our Chicago organization listed.

This is an incredible opportunity for the Blue Wave, making this move will allow us to be part of the oldest and unquestionably, the most successful travel softball program in the country. Our affiliation with the Batbusters was considered for months and resulted in many conversations with Mike Stith, the president.  As part of their commitment to us, Mike and his Batbuster staff will be coming out next year to assist with tryouts and answer any questions about our new teams. They'll also come Fall of 2018 to train our coaches and players the Batbuster way.  We plan to incorporate those techniques and practice plans into our winter workouts.   We're very excited about our future – we’ll have the same amenities, number of teams, President and Board of Directors, but now we’ll have a nationally recognized Batbuster name.
