All-Matrix Final at 8th Grade Division 2 AAU Nationals
In a very rare event, two Matrix teams faced off in the championship game of the 8th Grade Division 2 AAU National Tournament in Orlando, FL. In the deciding game, Coach Liz Reed's Matrix 2019 Black team held off a late charge from Coach Dave McRae's Matrix 2018 Black team to take home the title, 43-37.

The tournament featured 58 teams representing twenty different states from across the country. Both Matrix teams had an outstanding week of basketball, each first winning their respective pools with perfect 3-0 records and then advancing past the first two rounds of bracket play into the Elite Eight.

In the quarterfinals, 2018 Black led wire-to-wire to defeat the Cincy Swish. 2019 Black came back from a halftime deficit to pull away from a very strong North GA Magic team. In the semifinals, 2018 Black took down the TN Rage, while 2019 Black narrowly defeated Kentucky Shining Star Sports to advance, setting up the all-Matrix final.

In the championship game, 2019 Black jumped out to an early lead and were able to hang on despite a great effort by 2018 Black.  By finishing first and second, both teams placed higher at a national tournament than any other Matrix team before them in the club's history.

Congratulations to both teams on this outstanding achievement!

Help Matrix Raise Funds for Nationals or Scholarships
The cost for a player participating in AAU can be quite expensive, as can the cost of a team of attending AAU Nationals or other summer tournaments.

The Matrix offers scholarships to players on a need basis as our policy is that no player should not play for financial reasons.

In addition, we want to assist our teams in their fundraising efforts to attend Nationals and other suche events.

As such, we have set up an online donation page for you to make a tax deductible donation for scholarships or to a Matrix team of your choosing; the Matrix is a tax-exempt Section 501(c)(3) organization.

Click here to visit the Matrix donation page for more information and to make a donation.  Thank you!!!!

The MATRIX Way: This is What Matrix Basketball is All About
Before we started the 2011 AAU season, the Matrix Board of Directors felt it was important to let all current and prospective players, parents, coaches and fans know what it means to be a member of the Matrix; these principles still apply in 2013.

Below is one of fourteen points of emphasis that is our way we do things at the Matrix, "The Matrix Way."

This is What Matrix Basketball is All About:

We offer honest, open, transparent, and responsive club management.  You should not have to wonder what we are doing and why we are doing it.  Each year, we ask parents to provide feedback via online surveys; this feedback is incorporated into our coaches’ evaluations and into our program in subsequent years.
