NBSA Opening Day Thank You!

To the NBSA Community:
As you know, the
2013 NBSA Opening Day was held last Saturday, May 4.
The day started with the Opening Day parade at Peaslee at 9:00 AM, led by the Northboro Boston Marathon runners (
Susan Willwerth,
Keith Pellerin,
Kristen McIsaac,
Chris Benestad,
Andy Cosgrove and
Meredith Kent), and ended with the Major LL Home Run Derby at 7:30 PM on Casey Field (fittingly won by Casey Leonard).

We believe it was our most successful Opening Day ever. We took your feedback from last year and added more activities to fill in the gaps in the day. We hope you had as much fun as we did and we look forward to expanding the day again next year.
Many thanks to all of the volunteers who made it happen, particularly our youth volunteers who assisted with many of the activities. We also want to thank
Judy Boyle and her
RE/MAX team for donating the Hot Air Balloon, the
Northborough Police officers who were there to keep us safe all day and the
Northborough Fire Department for helping to lead the parade.
Based on the overwhelming success of the day and to follow through on our commitment to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy, the NBSA board yesterday approved a
$1,000 donation to the One Fund based on the proceeds raised on Opening Day. The check will be combined with the donations received at the snack bar and sent to the Fund this week. Thank you NBSA members for helping us to show community strength!
