DYHA MINI & MIGHTY MITES

Home
The Mini Mite program at DYHA is your first step into DYHA and youth hockey.  Our highly regarded Mini Mite program is designed for 5 year-olds, both in Kindergarten and in Pre-K, who have already taken their first strides on the skating rink and now want to move to the next level, put on the hockey pads and learn the fundamentals of being a hockey player!  Our emphasis is on skating fundamentals and fun!

The weekday Mini Mite sessions are led by DYHA coaches including our Skills Director/Squirt A coach Brett Farson, Squirt A1 coach Mark Wilhelm, Mite A coach Kevin Erving, Bantam A coach Tucker Grose and former Blueline Sports Academy coach Sean Blanche.  Brett and our coaches have many years of coaching experience and will teach your player the basics of skating and ice hockey skills by utilizing drills and small area games in a fun but challenging environment.

The lessons learned during the week are reinforced during weekend sessions that are augmented with small area  and cross-ice games overseen by our professional coaches and volunteer parents.  We are fortunate to have many top former players, male and female, amongst our parents and we encourage parents to get on the ice and be a part of their young player's hockey development.

The Mini Mites will practice Friday afternoons and then are broken up into two groups, based on alphabetical order, for more skill and game sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

DHYA’s Mini Mite program will help your player master the basics of skating and stick skills which is critical to their enjoyment and success in the game in the years to come.

Once your player has been accepted into the Mini Mite program (Winter Session 1 or 2) they are a DYHA member and gain priority registration status for our Mighty Mite and Mite House programs, which are regularly sold out, and are guaranteed a tryout spot for our travel teams in the coming years.
