The Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, is all about the community having fun, racing, raising money for charity and being green.

Festival Mission:

Give to Charity

  • Give back to the community by raising funds for Integrative Therapies at the UVM Cancer Center‚Äč and Dragonheart Vermont
  • Inspire the entire Burlington community to join together and support this charitable event

Have Fun  

  • Enhance the quality of life in Vermont by presenting a fun-filled, hands-on summer festival for all ages, and to make the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival a favorite Burlington summer tradition
  • Foster fitness, teamwork, and community-giving together in one event                           


  • Share the exciting sport of dragon boat racing with the Vermont community each summer at the Burlington waterfront.
  • Recruit 64 teams annually made up of breast cancer survivors, local businesses, non-profits, service groups, neighbors, and families who know that together we can make a real difference in the lives of cancer survivors.

Be Environmentally Responsible


  • The Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival is a smoke-free event.
  • Hard cider, beer, and wine will be available in the Woodchuck Hard Cider Tent, but the City of Burlington prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages at Waterfront Park outside of the confines of the Cider Tent.
  • No grills (wood or gas) are allowed at Waterfront Park, leave the work behind and take advantage of our food vendors.
