Captains present Mary Carafos of BCCR with donation check!
Our sixth annual Pink The Rink games to benefit breast cancer awareness were held on January 24, 2015 at the Ritter Arena at RIT and were again a huge success! We are continuing a great tradition!
There were approximately 1333 tickets sold to the games –a great turnout! The evening went off without a hitch and all events ran smoothly. There was great student involvement at the high schools during the week of the games and at the games themselves. Five hundred foam pucks were sold for the chuck-a-puck contest. There was DJ music and great announcing by Joe Agostinelli. The RIT pep band joined us to make the evening extra special. Our live anthem singers , Meena Potter and Agathe D'Andrea from Calkins Rd. Middle School sang at the JV game and Shannon Beel from Barker Road Middle School sang before the Varsity game. They were all absolutely amazing! The final numbers are almost complete and Pittsford Hockey raised $6000 to donate to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester from admission proceeds, spirit wear sales, chuck a puck sales, jersey sponsorships and game day donations. In addition the Pittsford Power Play on Cancer pledges and donations to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Pittsford Hockey total about $3000! Varsity and JV teams have a combined power play goal count of 11 so far this season. A big thank you to our volunteers, players, parents and coaches for their efforts on and off the ice to make this fundraising season such a success and to everyone that supports these games by sponsoring jerseys, donating time, forwarding information to hockey fans, showing up to cheer and just plain getting in the spirit!
Pink the Rink is an annual event. Our pink jerseys and socks are stored to use every year. The 5 sponsor patches from this year and the 68 from previous years will remain on the jerseys forever. I hope that each year we can add some more, so if anyone is interested in sponsoring a jersey feel free to contact me at .
Again, thank you for making this a truly successful and fulfilling fundraising adventure.
