2017 Fall K through 12th Grade Youth Soccer

For Who

Boys and Girls in Kindergarten (K) through 12th Grades. 

Program (Leagues)

We expect to have the following leagues for 2017 - This might change depending on registrations in each grade or age group:

  • Boys Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 4th & 5th, 6th & 7th, 8th to 12th
  • Girls Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 4th & 5th, 6th & 7th, and 8th to 12th

Pre-assigned teams coached by volunteer coaches.

  • Players, except in the case of injury, will play at least 50% of any game they attend.
  • Games are played every Saturday starting on September 16, 2017 and ending on November 18, 2017. Games are played on Saturdays between 9 am (earliest start time) and 1 pm (latest end time). Note: Some weeks your games will start at 9 am and other weeks they will start around 10:30 or 11 am. It is highly unlikely that we can place a player on a team that plays all of its games at the same time for the entire season. All games are played on fields located in West Windsor and Plainsboro. Teams play other teams within leagues based on gender and school grade.
  • Practices for K through 3rd grade teams are on Saturday just before the games at the same location as the games. 
  • Practices for 4th grade and above team are on weeknights between 4:30 pm and 9 pm depending on the volunteer coaches availability.

Awards / Playoffs / Picture Day

All players in K through 3rd grade will receive participation medals.

Grade 4 and above leagues may have playoffs the last three weeks of the season. Players must participate in at least 3 non-playoff games to participate in the playoff games. Trophies will be awarded to teams placing 1st and 2nd in the playoffs.

All players attending picture day will receive a team photograph at no additional cost. Picture day will be scheduled for sometime in October.

Optional Group Practices

Youth Recreational Group Training Sessions will be offered starting on Monday, September 18, 2017, and ending on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. The sessions on Mondays will be at Duck Pond Park and on Tuesday will be at Plainsboro Community Park. Each day will have three sessions 4:30 to 5:30 pm, 5:30 to 6:30 pm and 6:30 to 7:30 pm. You may attend either the Monday or Tuesday session, no need to RSVP, just show up.

Cancelations

If weather or other reasons require a program wide cancelation or field closures, the cancelation will be posted on http://www.wwpsa2.org and/or emailed as follows:

  • Saturdays: Cancelations will be posted on the website and/or emailed by 8:00 am
  • Weeknights: Cancelations and field closures will be posted on the website and/or emailed by 3:00 pm on the day of the session
  • Individual Team Practices: Cancelations by the team coach will be communicated directly by the coach to players on the team.

Volunteering and Volunteer Bond

WWPSA is a volunteer run organization that relies on volunteers to run its programs and maintain fields. To encourage volunteering, WWPSA charges one $50 volunteer bond per youth player (a maximum of one $50 bond per family) per seasonal year (July through June).

The bond is automatically added to the cost of registration for the first youth player registered by a family for the seasonal year. The bond will be refunded / credited to the family's account after someone in the family fulfills a volunteer shift of at least 3 hours. Many volunteer opportunities are announced throughout the year that will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. All you need to do is sign-up for an opportunity, show up, sign-in (as proof of volunteering) and do your part. 

Note: You will forfeit your Volunteer Bond and those funds will be returned to the WWPSA General Fund, if:

  • You do not complete your obligation by the end of June
  • Sign up and do not show so please make sure you can commit to the volunteer session before signing up

Players Uniforms and Equipment

Players can use WWPSA uniforms from prior seasons and trade with neighbors.

New uniform kits (1 green shirt, 1 white shirt, 1 shorts (pants), and 1 set of socks) can be purchased for $36 as part of the registration process. Note: the $36 uniform cost is NOT included in the registration fee.

All players are required to provide their own (these items can be purchased at Dick's use WWPSA's discount coupons):

  • Shin guards are required and must be worn inside socks.
  • Soccer cleats are required. Baseball, metal cleats, or cleats with a toe cleat are not allowed.
  • Soccer ball - K through 3rd use size 3 balls, 4th through 7th grade use size 4 balls and 8th grade and above use size 5 balls. Please write your name and phone number on the ball using a permanent marker to avoid it getting lost.
  • Eyeglass straps are recommended for players who wear glasses.
  • Mouthpieces, cups, and sports bras are optional.

Jewelry and Hard Casts Not Allowed

Jewelry of any kind (including small stud earrings and religious emblems) and hard casts may not be worn during practices or games. Players with recently pierced ears cannot participate until the earrings can be removed, so please plan accordingly so they are able to remove the earrings before the first practices and games in September.

Registration and Fees

Registration fee and multi-player discount - Please register early to receive the registration discount and help us plan the season. 

  • $105 Discounted early registration fee if registered by Jul 31, 2017
  • $130 Standard registration fee if registering between Aug 1 and Sep 3, 2017
  • $160 ($130 plus $30 late registration fee if registering on or after September 4, 2017 

There is a $10 discount for the second and subsequent youth players from the same family.

Note: Registrations after September 3 are not guaranteed a placed on a team and will be accepted based on availability and may not be assigned to a team until the 2nd week of the season.

Volunteer Bond of $50 per family per seasonal year. The volunteer bond is automatically added to your registration and will be refunded (credited to your account) after the family fulfills a volunteer shift.

Uniforms - $36 for a new uniform kit, if desired. If possible, please re-use uniforms from prior seasons.
