Boys Program Coordinator:

Would like to recognize all players, coaches, and team support for making the hockey season possible.  In particular would like to recognize the A Bantams for advancing to Regionals and to the C Squirts for winning the District Championship.

Overall our boys teams weren't overly successful in terms of wins and losses.  While not the only measure of a season it is a significant one.  All players please recognize that the off-season is the time to continue to work hard on-ice or off-ice.  The IYHA website lists many fine camps so please take a look and find one that fits.  If you don't get on the ice please shoot pucks, stickhandle around cones in the garage, run sprints, and do pushups and situps.  These are all things that can be done with no expense and will have an impact on your game and the success of your team.  The reality of youth hockey in 2010 is that other players in other programs are working to get better and we need to do likewise.

Boys team parents please fill out the survey.

Thank you to outgoing HS coach Jeff Martin and his staff for the support of the boys program they have given the past 6 years.  Future collaboration with the HS coach is obviously on-hold until named.

Thank you to the board members with terms expiring for their support of the boys teams.  Without you stepping up and volunteering we don't have a hockey program.

Finally, a recognition of all the outgoing Bantams leaving our program.  Many of our players spend 10 years playing hockey with IYHA from Mini-Mites through Bantams.  I am sure their parents would agree that the time flew by.  Hopefully they will leave with fond memories and strong friendships.  Thank you players and parents for your impact on IYHA and good luck in your ongoing hockey careers.

ADDENDUM TO MINUTES - eNEWSLETTER

Election Update

As previously noted in the March eNewsletter, please take note that this Thursday’s IYHA Board meeting is the annual election meeting at which expiring Board positions will be filled.  We currently have one candidate for each open position, which will result in an election by acclamation for those uncontested positions.

Current candidates for the open positions include:

Vice President – Chris Drews

Treasurer – Cyndi Olson

Equipment Manager – Steve Krahn

District Representative – Rick Laporte

Ice Commissioner – Kara Chamberlain

Each candidate will submit a statement for release prior to Thursday’s Board meeting.

If you are interested in running for an open position, please contact the Secretary no later than 12pm, Wednesday April 14.

We have people who have expressed interest in the webmaster position, but there remains a need to fill the position of League Coordinator within District 10.  This position is described by the D10 president as follows:

The D10 League Coordinator position is not a requirement from each association as some districts have it. We look for someone that wishes to get on the D10 Board as a district volunteer, not as an IYHA volunteer. We ask for a three year commitment. Everyone starts as a League Coordinator then if they wish to move up the ranks of the D10 Board as openings come up, each person is given the offer to do that.  What you will need to have is someone to be present at all D10 meetings (during the season) and at the presidents meetings during the summer.

The Secretary’s opinion only, but I would think the Board would entertain a motion to make the D10 League Coordinator position fulfill all IYHA volunteer hour requirements.
