Learn to Skate/Play Hockey:  Hockey 1 & Hockey 2

Our Learn To Play programs are all about learning the skills of a great sport in a fun and challenging environment.  Players learn the fundamental skills of how to skate, handle a puck with a stick, and many other valuable life skills.
 
Hockey 1 LTS         Hockey 2 LTP         Equipment

 
HOCKEY 1 - LEARN TO SKATE

Ages: Youth 4 to 9 years
Prerequisite: N/A (new skaters welcome)
Series Length:  6 Week Series one class a week (may join at any time if space is available)

The focus and goal of Hockey 1 is to teach beginner ice skaters the fundamentals of ice skating. It’s important for these players to become comfortable on the ice, learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, use of edges and how to hold a stick before moving onto Hockey 2 – Learn to Play.  Proper skating techniques are the primary focus of the levels. Skaters will learn the necessary ice skating fundamentals to be successful in Hockey 2 - Learn to Play
 
Equipment required: Full hockey gear, and stick. Arrange for rental gear AS SOON as you have registered, as there are limited gear fitting times, and you do not want your child to miss out on their first class. 

Rental equipment is available by appointment only. Coaches do not have access to rental equipment, and equipment cannot be given out the day of class. 

IN RENTON: Equipment is available though the Renton rink. To schedule an appointment, please email Jessica at jessica@snokingrenton.com . Bring confirmation of registration and payment info. Please note that we do NOT fit gear on the weekends and you should schedule an appointment as soon as possible as appointments do fill up quickly and we can not guarantee being able to schedule last minute appointments.

IN KIRKLAND: 

Currently, you can be fitted on Saturdays or Sundays in Kirkland from 8-3:30pm, or on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12-4. You MUST call the rink at (425) 821-7133 ext.100 (weekdays, business hours only!) and make an appointment with Brenda for a gear fitting. Please bring confirmation of registration and payment info.

Please note that coaches cannot fit equipment the day of class. 

 

COSTS

2017-2018 season:

Kirkland - $95 with no equipment rental (45 minute class), $125 includes equipment rental for 6 weeks
Renton - $125 with no equipment rental (60 minute class), $155 includes equipment rental for 6 weeks.

HOCKEY 2 - LEARN TO PLAY
    
Ages: Youth 5 to 10 years
Prerequisite: Hockey 1 or basic skating ability
Series Length:  16 Week Series, 1 classes a week (may join at any time) - 10 weeks of practice, and 6 weeks of games

Hockey 2 is for players who have basic skating skills and are ready for more hockey.  Players are in full hockey gear for this class. Hockey 2 consists of small groups of players on the ice with similar skill levels. Hockey 2 follows the American Development Model guidelines which promote high activity through fun, station based practices and games. Teams are formed during the last 6 weeks of the series for cross ice games.

USA Hockey               $49.00 (once per year)  This fee is waived by USA Hockey for players under 6 years of age.
