Some few questions that are often asked!
1) What are the age groups?
A. Girls aged 8-15. No High School players allowed. Girls 7 on 8/31/2016 may play up in the U8/U9 division. Due to registration numbers girls may be grouped in multi age format to create a team.
2) What is the normal season that girls lacrosse is played?
A. Spring season - March - Mid May. Many teams participate in the Jamboree early June. Team participation in the Jamboree is a per team decision and requires an additional fee.
3) What is required for girls to play?
A. A girls stick, mouth guard, eye protection, are required. Gloves are optional.
4) What is the difference between Boys lacrosse and Girls lacrosse.
A. Girls do not have contact at all! It is all stick work and footwork.
5) Do I have to buy a uniform?
A. Yes, each player must purchase a uniform in addition to the league fee and US Lacrosse fee.
6) When is registration?
A. Registration for the 2017 spring season November 1- December 31, 2016 for $250. Registration beginning January 1, 2017 - January 11, 2017 will incur a $25 additional fee with girls only being placed on a team if space is available. Registration will totally close January 12, 2017. Early registration is suggested. Once teams fill, registration will close. This means that registration may close early.
7) When are practices and games?
A. Practices start the beginning of March and games begin in April. Most games are played on Saturday, however, due to weather weekday or Sunday games are possible. The season concludes Mid May with the Jamboree early June. Participation in the Jamboree is a per team decision and incurs an additional fee.
8) How much does girls lacrosse cost?
A. Registration between November 1- December 31, 2016 costs $250 . Registration beginning January 1, 2017 - January 11, 2017 will be $275. All players are required to have a current US Lax membership valid through June 2017. In addition, players are required to purchase a uniform and all required equipment.
9) Can I register and not submit payment?
A. A registration is not complete until payment is received. Any payment after December 31, 2016 will incur an additional charge of $25 regardless of when you registered. A registration without payment does NOT hold a spot for your daughter on a team. Payment at the time of registration is encouraged. You will not get a reminder to submit payment from the league. Once teams fill, registration will be closed.
10) Do I have to purchase a US Lax membership?
A. Yes, the league requires all participants to have a current US Lax membership. The cost of that membership is $30. This is paid directly to US Lax. It is not refundable by Parker Youth Sports.
11) Are there refunds if my daughter decides not to play?
A. After your daughter is placed on a roster the refund is 50% minus a $20 admin fee. This is done early January. Teams are turned in to the CGLA January 13, 2017. Once the season starts there are no refunds. If you seek a refund prior to being placed on a roster there is a $20 admin fee that is non refundable. The late fee is not refundable.
12). When and where are practices? Can I request a practice day/time/location?
A. Practices are held Monday - Friday in the evenings. Your coach decides the day/time of practice. Practices are in Parker at a local middle school or elementary school. Practice location/day/time requests are not taken from any player. Teams can practice 2-3 times per week for 1.5-2 hours.
13). When and where are games?
A. Games are played as far North as Fort Collins and as far south as Pueblo and everywhere in between. The league (which controls the game schedule) tries to schedule each team at least 2 home games, preferably 3. There may be times when you are the "home" team and you are playing outside of Parker. Games are usually Saturday 9A-7P but can occur on Sunday or during the week if inclement weather arises.
