2017 Travel Try Out Schedule (Updated as of 9/21/2016)
Due to the potential of snow on Tucker Turf we are limited to indoor try outs. We are not allowed to clear the snow off the field per BARC regulations.
As soon as we can get outside and on the field, we will add turf time to the schedule as necessary. We will update everyone as changes occur.
Our goal is to have three try out dates per age group.
Please arrive 30 minutes Prior to your scheduled time to sign in and get a number assignment and try out Pinnie.
The goal for travel try outs are to select the the most talented kids in the program to fill out the teams. It is competitive and we may have cuts. Please make sure the boys understand that they need to be focused and listen to coaches and do their best.
We do not allow "play ups" from one age group to another. If parents have any questions to that policy, please reach out to your Age Group Commissioner
Travel teams ARE NOT grade specific. We will look at the top players for each group that will comprise the top 18 or 19 players for A teams. Because of age and athletic development, most of the A travel players end up being the older group of kids in that particular age group
Can my son try out for a travel team?
Yes. Travel teams are selected at the beginning of each season by the Program Chair, Age Group Commissioner and selected Age Group coaches
Do travel players automatically make the team, if they were on it the previous year?
No. It is an open tryout for each age group. Players are evaluated based on the try out performance. Selections are based on Speed, Stick Skills, Use of Off Hand, field awareness and athleticism. Our goal is to be fair and impartial in the selection process and award spots on the roster based on performance
How are Travel Coaches selected?
Our coaches (95% of them are parents with son's in the program) in most cases, are selected after the evaluation process is over and the teams are selected as to promote fairness in the evaluation process. The program goal for Midget and Junior A travel teams to be Non- Parent coaches with other Lacrosse coaching experience - club and High School experience
