Sound Tigers Family Night: Sunday, February 25 @ 3pm

Members,

As a reminder, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers’ organization is offering discounted tickets to all New Canaan Winter Club members and friends for an upcoming game on Sunday, February 25 versus the Charlotte Checkers at 3PM.  The tickets are $16 per seat; they are normally $39 per seat!

Our Mite Development Program players will be entertaining us during each intermission as they have been invited to go on the ice.  This is the twelfth year that we have had the Winter Club go to the Sound Tigers game as a big group so please don't miss out on this terrific event!!!

If you would like to buy tickets, please call Alayne Murphy of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 203-345-4819 and tell her that you are with the New Canaan Winter Club.  Please have your credit card information available and she will leave your tickets for pick up at Will Call on Sunday, February 25.  If Alayne is not available, please leave her a voice message and she will call you back.

All tickets must be ordered before Thursday, February 22 in order to receive this special discount.

We hope to see you on Sunday, February 25 in Bridgeport for a fun afternoon with your fellow Winter Club members.

Cold & Flu Season *Please Read*

Effective immediately, The New Canaan Winter Club, along with other area hockey organizations, is taking special precautions for the next few weeks because of an increase of influenza (flu) in the state of Connecticut. Although anyone can get the flu, it is most serious in the elderly, very young children, people with chronic illnesses (such as lung disease, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes), or those with weakened immune systems. Influenza spreads easily in discharges from the nose and throat, usually when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

We ask that you do the following to help us prevent further spread of flu among our families:

         •          Do not attend practices or games if you know you are sick.  Wait to until you have been without a fever for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication).

         •          Frequent and thorough hand washing is a MUST. Wash your hands frequently using antibacterial soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

         •          There is to be no sharing of water bottles during practices or games.

         •          Players must bring their own water bottles to games and practices.

         •          Gloves are to remain on at the end of the games on the handshake line.

         •          Please be diligent in either washing/spraying/wiping down all hockey equipment (including sticks, bags, etc).

If you or your players(s) experience flu-like symptoms or a fever please see your physician or pediatrician.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to manage this situation and will let you know when the flu outbreak precautions are no longer necessary.
