Fall Season Planning

Hello Parents and Players,

Beginning August 28, we have added Shoot Arounds to the Master Schedule on Mondays from 7 - 8:30 PM, upper turf.  All grades are welcome.  We will continue to build the Master Schedule on the website as lacrosse opportunities become available.

Also a friendly reminder,  MaxLax, fall indoor lacrosse program at Grand Park, is a 1-hour/week commitment on Thursdays is open; this is not a requirement but a good off-season opportunity. Carmel Lacrosse will provide coaches for the teams if necessary (CHS may still be in the hiring process).  Ideally, we will have three or more teams.  For general information/registration:  Click here to Register or contact Sharon Balek at sharon@maxlaxindy.com.

We will also be scheduling a parent social opportunity in the coming weeks.  We are looking at dates that do not conflict with back to school activities.

I hope you can enjoy this beautiful weather,

Michelle

Fall Season Planning

Hello Carmel Lacrosse Parents and Players,

This is a very exciting time in Carmel Lacrosse.  We are working with the Athletic Director and school administration to ensure it is as seamless a transition as possible and have begun our fall programming commitments.

Carmel Lacrosse is working on several items for the fall season:

  • Shoot Around’s targeted to begin the week of September 4, Day/Time TBD, although we know Sunday will NOT be an option as a day, potentially Monday or Tuesday.
  • MaxLax, fall indoor lacrosse program at Grand Park is a 1x/week for 1-hour commitment on Thursdays is now open; this is not a requirement but a good off-season opportunity. Carmel Lacrosse will provide coaches for the teams if necessary (CHS may still be in the hiring process).  Ideally, we will have three or more teams.  For general information/registration:  Click here to Register or contact Sharon Balek at sharon@maxlaxindy.com
  • Laxtoberfest is on the calendar for October 21 and 22, this is not a requirement, but Carmel Lacrosse would like to field 2-3 teams.  If necessary, Carmel Lacrosse will also provide coaches.
  • Lacrosse Gives Back opportunity; the board is looking into various options for the boys to volunteer their time and give back to the community.  More details to come.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 212-729-6959 or .

Hello,

As we transition the lacrosse program into varsity status at Carmel High School, it now falls under the collective bargaining agreement for the school district.  Adding positions to the extracurricular stipend schedule coincides with an agreed upon collective bargaining agreement for the 2017-2018 school year.  These negotiations will begin in the fall between the teachers union and school district administration.  Once agreed upon and ratified by the school board, the head coach position and other coaching positions will be posted for hire.  The athletic administration will then follow an aggressive timeline for completion of the coaching staff.  Another update will be provided at that time to returning families and prospective student-athletes in the program.

Notre Dame Camp 2017 Update

Carmel Lacrosse Parents and Players.

With the transition to Varsity status, a final decision has been made that our teams will not be participating in Notre Dame camp this year. As the school will be posting the coach positions soon, they will not have coaches in place yet at that time. Attendance at Notre Dame will be reviewed as an option for next summer by CHS Athletics.

As we transition to Varsity status, the Board continues to work closely with the Athletic Department to ensure a smooth transition.  In the near future, Parents and Players will be provided with additional updates and an estimated timeline of transition-related events!

Thank you,

Carmel Lacrosse

Mike Dodd, President
