The rain held off long enough for us to have a great opening day!  Individual and team pictures were taken.  We will handing out the pictures at the HGSL Awards Night on Tuesday June 26th.

Opening ceremonies consisted of introduction of players and coaches.  Thank you to Madison Cunha for doing a terrific job with the National Anthem!

First pitch was thrown out by Miss Greater Hooksett Shawna Gile.  Receiving the ceremonial first pitch was Camryn Collins, an up and coming HGSL standout!

Thank you to Bob Cunha, HGSL VP, for doing a great job as the MC for Opening Day!

Special thanks to, DJ Jeff Hamilton (AAA Coordinator & Manager) for keeping all us entertained with great music and allowing us to use his DJ equipment for opening day!

We had a special cameo appearance by our own Hooksett Softball Bull Dog!  It was great to see the girls swarm him and it just made Opening Day even better!

Opening day was a success due to the efforts of the Board Members, Managers, Coaches, & Parents.   Thank you all for making it a great day for the girls!

Thank you to Natasha Hyde and the concession volunteers for manning the concession stand during a busy opening day!

We  had our 7th annual Pitch, Hit, and Run Event sponsored by Banks Chevrolet.  Thank you for all who participated and each of the girls got a really cool t-shirt with their name on it!

Congratulations Capital Area Cyclones!!!

The New Hampshire and New England Regional Babe Ruth 10-U champions, the Capital Area Cyclones proudly represented New Hampshire at the Babe Ruth Softball World Series in Jensen Beach Florida.  During the week long tournament, the Cyclones went 3-4 against the best Babe Ruth 10U teams from around the country.

The Cyclones got off to a slow start in pool play, losing  their first game  to the ultimate World Series runner-up, East Side Indiana. The tenacious team from New Hampshire bounced back strong in their second game against the Ridley All Stars from Pennsylvania behind a complete game pitching performance by Hooksett Softball's own Madi "Ice" Cunha.  The Cyclones posted a 9-1 win against Ridley with Madi "Ice" Cunha taking  home  player of the game honors.  In their third game, the Cyclones lost a close 4-3 game to the Pierre Port All Stars from Louisiana.  In the first round of bracket play, the Cyclones fell 10-4 versus the Sparta New Jersey Blue Diamonds who would finish the tournament in 4th place overall.  The Cyclones then posted back to back wins 13-3 against the Tri-County All Stars from Iowa and 8-2 against the St. Charles Parish Louisiana All Stars.  These important wins earned the Cyclones a spot in the Diamond Bracket championship.  The Cyclones lost a hard fought championship game in extra innings 5-4 versus the West Volusia Florida All Stars.  As the runner-ups in the Diamond Championship game, the Cyclones finished 10th overall out of 17 championship teams from around the USA.

The Cyclones clearly turned some heads at the Softball World Series and took home the 10U Sportsmanship Award to close out a very special season for the New Hampshire/New England champs.  There are 9 New Hampshire softball programs, including Hooksett, that make up the Capital Area.   The Cyclones are Katie Blinn, Madi Cunha, Delaney Duford,  Steph Elrick, Maddie Kelley, Lily Hackett, Avery MacDonald, Finley Pratt, Sarah Taylor, Sophia Vargas, Maddy Wachter  and Mia Wagner.  Each of these programs can be proud of these exceptional young ladies, these Cyclones.
