CYA is Mourning the Passing of
Colonel John Scipione

Colonel John A. "Skip" Scipione passed away suddenly and peacefully on September 14, 2018, at his home in Charlotte, NC.  He was a long-time resident of Northern Virginia.  Colonel Scipione was a leader of men as demonstrated by his careers in college, the Army, business and life.  He was a star athlete at East Meadow High School and Syracuse University where he graduated from in 1970.  In high school as well as college he excelled at football and was the Captain of the lacrosse team. He served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1998.  Skip was instrumental in the establishment of the Lacrosse program at Chantilly High School.  He coached many who have passed the sport to their children and grandchildren.  He was the husband of Patricia Byrd and father of Peter & Mike Scipione and Kristen Scipione Scorza.  His grandchildren, Connor & Reagan, are active members of CYA and Madison & Piper may yet be future stars of the sport.

In lieu of flowers we request donations to the CYA John A. Scipione Scholarship Fund.  This fund will provide financial assistance to children who want to play and need a little help as determined by the Sport Coordinator.
