Lax for Leukemia Donates Triage Toy Boxes + Chemoducks
One of the primary reasons Lax for Leukemia was formed was to raise awareness and funds to support kids receiving treatment for leukemia at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where founder Patrick Young's daughter Ella rceived all her treatments during her 2.5 year battle. For 2016, we again went to the nurses at the Cancer Treatment Center and asked: what do you need? What might make enduring treatment a little easier for kids?
The nurses had a great request: toy boxes full of re-useable toys that kids could enjoy while waiting in triage. LFL went to work and purchased mutliple sturdy, plastic boxes and filled them with all sorts of great items that kids of many ages could enjoy. We added stickers, flavored chapsticks and suckers to help with dry lips and nausea.
Additionally, we purchased another flock of 56 Chemoducks to be given to the kids at CHOA. We love these ducks and how much they comfort young children and allow nurses to demonstrate procedures prior to being performed on a child.
We are proud of and thank our young men and their parents for all they did in 2016 to raise the funds that were used to purchase these items. We hope they help just a bit to ease some discomfort or bring a smile to a little face that deserves it.
