Squirt - Midget September skating clinics

Hello Blues Families,

The board decided to purchase ice in September at the Scottsville Ice arena.  We will be holding Power skating sessions for the following age groups.  This is an opportunity to get a couple of skates in before our regular season kicks off.  This is not a team skate but an age group skate.  For example, if you are a Squirt player you would skate with the Squirts on 9/22 and 9/29.

Your player will not be able to skate unless they have registered to play this year.  Please make sure you register before your session.  Use the links below

September Mite Hockey

Hello Mite Hockey Families,

Please register your player before our season begins.

We will be starting our season at Scottsville Ice Arena this year.

            Practice:

  • Saturday September 8, 5pm at Scottsville Ice arena
  • Sunday September 16, 4pm at Scottsville Ice arena

Evaluations:

  • Saturday September 22, 4:30pm at Scottsville Ice arena

Empire League Mite Jamboree:

  • September 28 - September 30
  • Time will be determined the week prior.  We will be notified as soon as the directors have the schedule determined.

Explanation of the Mite progrqm:

For the Mites program this year the Livingston Blues intend to have all players rostered on an Empire league team.  This is an excellent next step for our Mites program moving forward.  Last year a single Empire team was fielded as a trial run and they had a great season.  All of the players showed great improvement throughout the year and the team became unified and enjoyed playing other (non Livingston Blues) competitive Mites teams.  The competitive play against other organizations enhanced the team play and skill development for the players.  The primary changes that can be expected are:

  • Games will no longer only be between house Mites teams in Geneseo.  Now the mites teams will each play other organizations (the same way our Squirts, Peewees, etc. have been doing).
  • Just like our current Squirts and above, half of the Mites games will be in Geneseo and the other half will be at other organizations rinks (Webster, Thomas Creek Ice Center, Lakeshore, etc…)
  • Games will still be half ice and will follow a format that is very similar to what our house Mites have been doing for the past years.
  • Each player will receive a single jersey with a name and number on it along with matching socks
  • In late September a “Jamboree” will be put on by the Empire league.  Going into the Jamboree the Livingston Blues will identify the rosters for the Mites teams at specific levels (Red, White, and Blue).  The intention of the Jamboree is to verify that teams are playing at their appropriate level for fairness.
  • An Evaluation will occur in mid September to determine the team rosters and to place them in their appropriate (equal level of play) RWB level.

Because of these changes there will be an additional cost for the season.  This additional cost (not to exceed $75, but the exact value is currently being determined) will cover several additional items that come along with being part of the Empire league

  • A personalized jersey with socks (these are more expensive than the usual practice jerseys)
  • Referee fees
  • A couple extra ice sessions to aid in Roster Evaluations.

The Livingston Blues board strongly feels that this decision will be for the better of all of our Mites players.  Playing against other organizations strengthens the team spirit and causes most players to self-motivate more than a house league would.
