Opening Jamboree Will Be Saturday, 3/30!

SAVE THE DATE for the RUGLL Opening Day Jamboree.
When: Saturday, March 30th
Start Time: 10:00am + games for most teams except t-ballers
Location: Maple Leaf Reservoir Playfield #2 (east field)
What's this jamboree thing all about? Teams will receive their uniforms the week prior to the jamboree, and this our chance to show them off! Teams will parade onto Maple Leaf 2 field, and gather in pre-determined spots on the diamond. We'll have an opening day ceremony, announcements, and a "first pitch" by a lucky player. This will all be followed by a series abbreviated exhibition games on the two Maple Leaf fields.
We'll kick off games around 10:30am by matching up our two older softball teams on field 2, and a TBD baseball game on field 1. We are hoping to get an exhibition game for most teams, but t-ballers will not play a game this day.
However, everyone is encourage to stick around to watch the games. Games will run until about 2:15pm, and we'll also have a hot dog stand going, RUGLL merchandise for sale, etc. So make a day of it at Maple Leaf, and pray for some good weather.

Umpire Trainings Approaching!

Important information for kid-pitch baseball and softball players:

All teams in 89ers baseball/softball, Minors baseball/softball, Majors baseball, and Juniors baseball, are required to have two parent volunteer umpires. These are not the coaches.

District 8 (our district) is hosting both rules clinics and field mechanics clinics. More info below and in this flyer.

The RULES CLINICS are two 2-hour sessions spread out over two nights, and held on Feburary 26 & 28 and March 12 & 14.

The FIELD MECHANICS CLINICS are 3 hours, and will also be offered twice, on March 2nd and March 16th.

You may attend any of these sessions, and even day 1 of the field mechanics on 2/26 and day 2 on 3/14. Attending 1 of these clinics/sessions is better than none, so please make an effort to get to as many of these as you can. In addition to umpires, these trainings are encourages for all team managers, coaches, and parents.

If you have any questions, please contact our Umpire in Chief at

Little League Challenger Division

Registration Open

Our Washington District 8 Challenger Division was started in 1991 by Gary and Bev Newsome to give children with intellectual and physical disabilities a chance to play ball. Today, the program flourishes with six teams totaling almost 100 players throughout the greater Seattle area. The program is supported by the 12 Little Leagues making up Washington District 8, as well as the Seattle Mariners, who continue to create special memories for these players.

Our 2019 WA District 8 Challenger season will start with practices in mid-April. Games will run twice per week from May 1st through mid-June, culminating in an end-of-the season jamboree held at Northshore Athletic Fields (NAF) in Woodinville.

Registration for our 2019 Little League Challenger season is now open at For questions regarding this year’s program, please contact Bev Newsome at (360) 805-0181 or  .
