Open Programs

METHUEN YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

The following programs are open to any skater not currently on a Methuen Youth Hockey team roster and you do not need to be a Methuen Resident to participate! All three programs will run from October through February on Saturdays at the Methuen High School Rink. MYHA reserves the right to cap registrations as necessary and attendance is NOT mandatory.

To register online, please visit MYHA.com and click the Register Now button.

Learn to Skate (LTS)
This program is designed for beginner and intermediate skaters and takes place on Saturday mornings from October through February. USA Hockey certified instructors will teach the fundamentals of ice skating in a fun-filled atmosphere with supervised instruction. Previous skating experience is not required. Skaters will attend one hour each week according to their skill level.

Learn to Skate Participation Requirements:

  • HECC-approved helmet (w/full cage) and ice skates
  • Additionally, we recommend elbow pads, shin pads and warm gloves
  • We do not advise wearing equipment big enough “to grow into”—proper fitting equipment will ensure your child’s safety, comfort, and ease of movement.
  • Current USA Hockey Registration (www.usahockey.com)

Learn to Play (LTP)
For children who have completed a Learn to Skate program, LTP offers a program for children interested in learning the game of hockey. Instructors will teach more advanced skating, along with introductory puck-handling techniques and children will participate in small areas games to help reinforce these techniques.

Learn to Play Participation Requirements:

  • HECC-approved helmet (w/full cage) and ice skates
  • Additionally, we recommend elbow pads, shin pads and warm gloves
  • We do not advise wearing equipment big enough “to grow into”—proper fitting equipment will ensure your child’s safety, comfort, and ease of movement.
  • Current USA Hockey Registration (www.usahockey.com)

Mite Development Program (MDP)

For those ready to play organized hockey but most of all, have FUN! This is an in house program and participants will experience approximately 20 practice sessions and 20 in-house cross ice games. Participants will also receive one game jersey and one pair of game socks.

Mite Development Participation Requirements:
