Congratulations Bantam A Sharks!! New England District Champions
The Bantam A team took home the New England Championship in two great games on Sunday. In the semis, they faced their nemesis, Watertown, who bounced them from the last two CT State Tournaments; most recently this year with a 3-2 overtime victory in the championship game. The Sharks got out to early lead and never let up, downing Watertown by a score of 4-1. In the championship game, the Sharks avenged an earlier pool play loss by besting the team from Waltham Hawks 3-0.
Congratulations Pee Wee A Sharks!! Lake Placid Can/Am Champions
The Stamford Sharks Pee Wee A team traveled to Montreal, Quebec to compete in the CanAm Challenge Cup. The Sharks went 5-0 en route to the gold medal. Wins over the Jersey Shore Wildcats, New Jersey Titans, and Plattsburgh Roadrunners set up a showdown between Stamford and the Burlington (Ontario) Bulldogs. The Sharks were victorious in a hard fought 2-0 battle. The next morning, a rematch between the two teams in the gold medal game was equally well played. Stamford headed into the third period with a 2-1 lead. They increased their lead to 3-1 within the first few seconds of a power play, and a shot and a rebound made it 4-1. In the final minutes, Burlington pulled their goalie, and the Sharks popped in an open netter. With their bark proving worse than their bite, the Bulldogs collapsed, as Stamford netted one more goal in the waning seconds for a 6-1 final score.
