Open Board Positions

Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League is a volunteer-led organization which relies on community service from passionate and dedicated people who help administer lacrosse for 100 town programs.

The 13-member Board of Directors meets monthly to shape policies ranging from scheduling to rules, from league financing to special events (and much, much more). It can be very rewarding to have a positive impact on thousands of youth lacrosse players in Massachusetts.

There are currently a few board positions as a result of expired terms and retirements. We are seeking interested candidates who believe they can contribute to MBYLL league administration as well as the protection and promotion of community-based youth lacrosse.

If interested (or have questions) please contact: with the Subject Line: Open Board Positions

Four open positions (with simplified duties and obligations):

  • Collect revenue and pay expenses
  • Draft and monitor annual budget
  • Provide financial statements and support necessary for tax filings
  • Update financial status at regular Board meetings

Director of Communications:

  • Shape league message (why we do what we do)
  • Email members with important news and notes
  • Answer members who have non-technical questions
  • Oversee Social Media
  • Oversee other publications (website messaging, The Scoop, Team App, etc.)

Regional Director (Metro West & West Central openings)

  • Host semi-regular meetings for town directors
  • Communicate league initiatives to regional representatives
  • Represent regions needs and objectives to MBYLL Board
  • Provide support for local programs (best practices, additional resources, other lax opportunities)

Mass Bay Colonials Are Back!

The Mass Bay Colonials are back!

(and heading South for the Winter)

We are resurrecting the Tour Team of MBYLL and opening our application process for a special tournament in Orlando Florida (November 30th – December 2nd) followed by an optional Theme Park Day on Monday December 3rd. There would be a handful of practices in the fall at centralized locations leading up to the two-day tournament. These practices will also include special team-building exercises and (lacrosse) educational components.

All MBYLL athletes who were born between 09/01/04 and 8/31/08 are eligible to participate so long as they are not in high school in the 2018-2019 season.

Once we receive all our applications (due by July 31st), we will ask the town programs to help nominate and recommend applicants, of which roughly 100 per level will receive an official invitation to attend one of two tryouts. There will be a $25 tryout fee to cover the costs of pinnies, equipment, personnel, and field rentals. If selected, the $25 will be credited to the players for their team fee. Tryouts will last 90-minutes, will be run by professional lacrosse evaluators, and the final team will be built by an impartial selection committee and the team announced on (or before) September 1st.

There will be a team participation fee of $500 (potentially less if the league can obtain sponsorship). The fee would include the tournament fee, insurance, uniform, shooter shirt, and team helmet. The fee would NOT include travel and accommodations (airfare, hotel room, rental cars, optional theme park ticket). MBYLL is working to secure a block of rooms at the Omni Championsgate Resort (site of the tournament) with rooms for approximately $170 / night. Airfare fluctuates and most Orlando theme park tickets are around $100 / day.

For more information, please see the Brochure and FAQ Document.

Player Sportsman of the Week -- AIDAN MOORE (pic above) from Leominster Youth Lacrosse --   leadership in stepping into the role of Goaltender (for the first time) during a Select game when neither team goalie appeared (and without notice). Your coaches felt this was an enormous gesture to the rest of your teammates as well as to your opponents (so the game could be played) and that you did a very admirable job on top of it.

Coach Sportsman of the Week -- BRIAN HANCOCK from Groton-Dunstable Youth Lacrosse -- dedication to your players through a positive style of coaching and by giving back to your community by sharing your love of the game with the next generation of lacrosse players.

WEEK 1 (Apr 6-8):

Player Sportsman of the Week -- DAVID RIZZO from Metheun Youth Lacrosse --  leadership, enthusiasm, and verbal & emotional support of his teammates - especially four new players at Level 7/8, for which he cheered and motivated on and off the field over the weekend.

Coach Sportsman of the Week -- DAVID CITRO from Wachusett Youth Lacrosse -- when the opposing team (Leominster) had a player who was injured after a shot, his team scooped up the ball and had an opportunity for a fast break and a good scoring opportunity. Despite it being a close game in the fourth quarter, Coach Citro asked the officials to take their time-out so the opposing team could attend to their injured player.
