Welcome to WYBL's home on the web!

Wisconsin's Premier Boys Youth Basketball League

* Posting of  2018 / 2019 Schedule *

Thanks to all who have sent emails on mistakes they've found.  I am correcting them all and will post an updated schedule shortly.  Until then, I have removed the schedule from the HANDOUTS section.

I have placed an excel file in the HANDOUTS section.  THIS IS TO BE USED AS A TEMPORARY SCHEDULE until I can upload the complete schedule into the Website scheduler.  Once I have uploaded the entire schedule, the website will be the only one used and the excel spreadsheet should be discarded.

But until then..................

  1. The spreadsheet opens to the list of teams separated by grade and by division.  Find your team name and number associated with it (example: 8A10 is Germantown-Blue).
  2. The next tab on the bottom is the Master Schedule showing all games by week, by location, and game time.  You will note there are a few "to be determined" locations that I am working on resolving.
  3. Each grade has their own tab on the bottom (4th through 8th).  This tab will quickly show you which weeks your team is scheduled for (allowing you to book tournaments).  If you scroll further to the right, you will find which teams you play on each scheduled week.  For instance, team 8A10 will play 8A6 & 8A7 on Nov 11th (WI Lutheran & M. Falls).

Master Schedule Tab:  TIP.  When the spreadsheet is open in Excel, there is a Find & Select option on the far upper right toolbar.  If you type in your team number (say, 8A10) and click on Find Next, it will quickly take you to each scheduled game.

I have reviewed this two times and made a few changes. but I'm sure I made a mistake somewhere that I did not catch.  If so, please send me an email so I can correct it.  There were about 4,000 games and I did the best I could with the resources available.

Below in the Communication Section is a timeline of important dates.

   * How to Report Game Results *

The winning team is responsible for reporting the game result.  Please send the result in no later than the end of Monday following the game.  Better still, with today's technology at your disposal, send it in immediately after your game!  We will update the website and the comparative scores will be available for all to see.

Send an email to:

Include the date, grade, division, the teams and score.  An example is this:
Nov 7th, 8A, North 39 East 37

The WYBL is a league that supports community-based teams.  It is required that each player reside in your school district or currently open enroll into your school district.  Let me be clear on this: no teams shall be comprised on multi-district players.  Players should be assigned to teams within their grade level (or play "up") and not according to age

As is always the case, please contact me at any time with questions and/or suggestions.  The aim is to continue to improve to make the WYBL the best youth boys basketball league in the State.  For Information Concerning the League please contact Lee Clement (414) 839-6800.     Email:

Basketball Thoughts & Observations

A Basketball Carol

As the story goes, Ebenezer Coach was watching a basketball game on TV with his family when he observed a player travel.  “Bah turnover”, he said.  A few minutes later, after an offensive rebound and subsequent put-back, he replied, “bah, box-out”.  Though it turned out to be an exciting game for the majority of the family, Ebenezer was always negative and uttered his last “bah, humbug” before heading upstairs and going to bed.

Immediately upon entering a deep sleep, he encountered the Ghost of Red Auerbach, who reminded him that basketball is a team game best performed when all players are fundamentally sound and operating as one.  Do not coddle your stars (they’ll thank you later), but teaching is best done through positive rather than negative reinforcement.  And with that advice, he faded in to the distant past.

Next to appear was the Ghost of Phil Jackson.  He was preaching patience and the need to not be so negative when dealing with today’s players.  Different generations often require unique approaches.  “The best way to get a horse to drink from the water is to have them believe it was their idea in the first place to go there”, opined the Zen-master.  The map to the watering hole may turn out to be curve-linear, but the end result will be more rewarding.  With those thoughts, he, too, then vanished into the night.

The last vision presented to Ebenezer startled him.  It was a bit hazy, but he could see that a man was prowling the sidelines of a youth basketball game and berating referees over phantom non-calls.  He was yelling at his players and being critical of the outcomes even when they attempted to do the right thing.  He could see the unhappy looks on the parent’s faces as the coach continued his overbearing ways.  What poor sportsmanship, thought Ebenezer.  Where on Earth did he ever learn such behavior?  Shaking his head in an attempt to rid himself of this vision only served to clarify the apparition.  Try as he may, there was no denying it.  There, on the sideline, was the Ghost of Basketball Future…….his own son!

His restless night was broken by the alarm clock signaling his wake up call.

Wiping the sleep from his eyes Ebenezer Coach thought to himself, “yes, that was a wake up call indeed”.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.
