MADISON LITTLE LEAGUE

Spring Cleaning & Donation Drive

Dear Madison Little League Community,

We will be organizing the baseball and softball gear at 4 New Road, Madison Ct this Sundayfrom 9-12 p.m. in order to get ready for the spring season.

  1. We need your help! Please join us for a few hours to help clean out the shed and get organized.  A few of us will be down there early with coffee looking for additional help.  If we get enough people to help, we may even be able to get a bating cage up and running!  Please consider joining us to make lighter work for all.
  2. If you haven't returned your gear, please bring it over this Sunday. We need your forgotton nets, tee's, buckets and equipment bags.
  3. Accepting Donations! - please bring any old gear you would like to donate.  Every year we donate equipment to Nicaragua, please bring any used gear you want to get rid of to add to our donations this year.

CT Quest for Peace collects a wide variety of things (tools, household items, school supplies, sports equipment) twice a year, trucks the goods to Nicaragua themselves, and distributes them from their warehouse facility. MLL has been contributing our surplus baseball and softball equipment for more than twelve years. We have sent just about everything at some point: shoes, gloves, uniforms, bats, balls, batting helmets, catchers’ gear, batting tees- even soccer balls and basketballs. We’ve been told that the recipients have nothing, so anything we contribute gets used. The only limitation being that equipment shouldn’t be broken or unsafe.

Please join us Sunday from 9-12 at 4 New Road, Madison Little League Equipment Storage Shed.

Thank you for your help and consideration!

 Adam Boyce,

 President Madison Little League

Please come prepared to play - dress for baseball, wear sneakers (NOT cleats). If you have your own helmet and/or bat, you may bring it, but these will also be available at the evaluations.

Players who are Little League age 8 may come to the evaluations to try out at their discretion. A limited number of 8YO players are typically asked to "play up" in the AA league, depending on available spots, and player skill and maturity. Players must be registered online in their age-appropriate program - Baseball 7-8YO (A Minors) or Softball 6-8YO (Pee Wee) - prior to the evaluation in order to attend. In order to be considered to play up an 8YO must attend the evaluations, however, for those 8YOs that do try out, there is no guarantee that the player will be asked to move up.

If you have any questions, or if you are a coach and would like to help with the evaluations, please contact Mike Catalano, Player Agent:   or call at 203-530-8966

New LL Bat Rules for 2018 - Please Read BEFORE Buying a New Bat!

Little League International Implements New Bat Standard
for 2018 in All Leagues

PLEASE NOTE: ALL bats for baseball used starting in the 2018 Spring season will need to conform to the new USA Baseball USAbat standard (softball is not affected). Before you purchase any baseball bats for the holidays or the upcoming season, please check that the bat meets the new standard. Bats that meet the standard will have the USAbat logo (see below).

Who does this apply to?

This new standard will apply to all BASEBALL leagues offered by Madison Little League in this upcoming season, except Majors - this means Tee Ball to AAA and Intermediate League (summer), as well as District All Stars. Majors will continue to use wood bats, which do not come under the USAbat standard. Softball is not included in the new standard, so existing team and personal bats will be fine to use as-is.

Will MLL have bats to use?

MLL will be buying new team bats for all leagues - each team will probably have two bats. If you do not want to purchase a new bat, you can use a team bat.

What about personal bats?

If you are using your own bat, it MUST conform to the new USAbat standard (see link to list of approved bats below). Umpires will be checking bats bfore games to ensure conformance.

PLEASE BEWARE - Retailers may try to dump their old bats at heavily discounted prices. As great a deal as it may be, these bats will be unusable for Little League.

For more information, please refer to Little League International's USA Baseball Bat Standard FAQs

Also, here is the list of aproved bats for 2018.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Thanks,
--MLL
