City of Scottsdale Brain Injury Online Course (Head and Assistant Coaches)
Beginning January 1, 2012 a new State law goes into effect.

The City of Scottsdale will not issue a permit nor will you be able to play on any school field until you meet this new requirement. Arizona recently passed SB 1521 which requires the education of coaches, athletes and parents of the danger of concussions and head injuries. In an effort to ensure the well being of children who play sports using school facilities, the City of Scottsdale is requiring that each coach in your organization complete a free, on-line course regarding concussions (see directions below).

The course takes approximately 20 minutes and at the end of the course a certificate will be issued. Once your coaches take the course, they do not have to take it again. Any new coaches, however, will have to take the course.
Once completed, please email your certification form (Adobe PDF) to your league commissioner.

WEBSITE:             http://nfhslearn.com/courses

On the left side select Coach and All and Free.  On the right hand side of the screen hover over Concussion in Sports and select View.  On the next screen select Order Course.  Create a login. Once a LOGIN is created, click on the course itself.  When you complete the five or six questions, you will be directed to print the certificate of completion.  Please email this certificate.  All coaches and assistant coaches are required to complete this program.

You only have to complete this course one time ever, so if you were a coach last season we should already have your certification on file.  Be sure ALL of your assistant coaches complete this course prior to your first practice.

Please contact you division commissioner should you have any questions.
