Falmouth Youth Hockey Programs for the Beginner or Developing Player
at the Falmouth Ice Arena 2016-2017
Falmouth Youth Hockey will be offering programs for the beginner hockey player or developing hockey player for the 2016-2017 season starting in September and October, 2016 at the new Falmouth Ice Arena at 9 Technology Park Drive, East Falmouth The new ice arena is ideally suited for beginner and development programs because of the new ½ sheet ice facility that allows for additional ice time availability to younger hockey players.
The Falmouth Youth Hockey House Mites Program is for girls and boys ages 5 to 8 and is typically the first introduction to playing hockey in a game environment. The House Mites program is a step up from a Hockey 101 or Learn to Skate program and is a development program for the FYH Mite teams. It is intended to be a positive learning environment for boys and girls to develop their skating and hockey skills. House Mites teams will play in the Mite Cross Ice League at the Falmouth Ice Arena on the ½ sheet arena. The league is an 18 game – 3 on 3 league – playing games Saturdays or Sundays in Falmouth. The House Mites program starts mid-September and the House Mites will practice two evenings a week through Thanksgiving with one game on the weekends. New registrations are welcome through October for House Mites. The cost is $495 for House Mites for the season.
Falmouth Youth Hockey will also offer a Girls’ 12/10/8 and under hockey program for girls ages 7-12 looking to play in an all-girls program of hockey. This program is intended for beginner hockey players who want to give hockey a try in a low commitment low cost starter program. It is also available for girls who play on teams already but might want some extra ice time with skills and small area games to get extra skills work. It is a great opportunity for girls to learn and improve on skills. Mini rink games for this program will be scheduled through the season. The cost of the Girls skills program is $175 for the season and it will take place on Sundays at approximately 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm starting October and running to the end of February, 2016.
