 June 21 - Hello Nutmeg members! As you may have heard, Jim Sidway has passed the editors baton to me. Jim has done a phenomenal job with the newsletter for the past 8 years, so I have big shoes to fill. Thank you Jim! If I haven’t met you yet, my son, Alex, and I have been members going on 3 seasons now. We live in Slingerlands, NY and try to get to the airport as often as possible. If you would like to contribute content to this newsletter please email it to me, mailto:bobpett1@verizon.net by the 15th of every month. Of course, any feedback or advice on what you would like to see is always welcome. ◊
 May 9 - This three page issue is my final newsletter as editor/publisher. It contains minutes from the March membership meeting and an article by Jeff Driscoll on promoting Nutmeg in an effor to increase membership.
 March 1 - This three page issue contains the minutes from the January Annual Meeting and the February BoD meeting. Also included are the details for this years Safety Meetings, a call to write NYS legislators urging approval of our airport grant applications and a safety article that addresses complacency. Student Certificate holders are reminded to re-new expiring certificates before the season starts.
 January 3 - In addition to the registration form for the 2008 Annual Banquet this three page issue includes a message from President Bruce Stein on a number of topics including the replacement of the Grob, membership and future projects. Also included are the minutes from the December 2007 BoD meeting, an announcement of the 2008 Annual Meeting, a thank you to Bob and Carol Ward for hosting the 2007 Holiday Party and an offer of back issues of Soaring magazine from John Boyce.
 January 1 -
2007 November 2 - This two page issue contains the minutes from the September Membership Meeting and the October BoD meeting. Also included is a notice to members concerning locking of the west parking lot gate. John Boyce shares a letter he received from former Nutmegger Wolf Herold.
 September 18 - This two page issue contains the minutes from the September BoD meeting, an accounting of a recent wave flight by Jeff Driscoll, a new column - Camper Corner, and the Duty Schedule through the end of October.
 August 10 - This issue contains the minutes from the July BoD meeting. Jeff Driscoll recounts his land out experience 'over the hill'. Mac offers guidance for glider ground towing that will hopefully help avoid future glider-contacting-foreign-body incidents. Wally Moran has some words of wisdom regarding where one's hands should be vis a vis the release knob while on tow. Also included is the Duty schedule through October 21.
 June 14 - This two page issue contains the minutes from the May membership meeting, a membership report from Betty Boyce and a ‘bird box’ bulletin from Don McKinlay. Also included is an article by Bill Kenyon detailing the new launch procedure for runway 30 that was recently implemented and is currently being evaluated.
 May 17 - This month's issue contains a message from President Stein in which he discusses flight instruction, badge flights, the new Blanik L-23 and airport social events. David Rossetter discusses the new Nutmeg Flight Operations Manual. Bill Kenyon offers a treatise on the steep stall as a training maneuver and Winnie Kenyon reports on local activities for non-flyers. John Boyce's safety article offers some insight on complacency and why we should not succumb to it. Finally, there is information on an upcoming Cessna 170 fly-in to be held on May 27.
 April 28 - This two page issue includes minutes from the March membership meeting, a reminder to renew student certificates that have expired, a safety article about the dangers of virga, some more Nutmeg history and an explanation of tie down changes at Freehold.
 March 1 - This two page issue contains a message from President Stein addressing a number of items most important of which are the upcoming Safety Meetings. The minutes from the January Annual Meeting are also included.
 January 8 - This four page edition includes a message from President Stein encouraging everyone to attend the Annual Meeting in January and the Annual Banquet in February. Bill Kenyon encourages all members to write to New York state legislators asking them to promote grant money for improving Freehold Airport. Also included are the minutes from the December Board of Directors meeting. And finally the registration form for Annual Banquet 2007 is enclosed so fill yours out and send it in today.
2006 December 19 - This two page issue contains a message from President Stein recapping some of the end of the year events and looking forward to 2007. The minutes from the November membership meeting are included as well as a safety article to keep your soaring minds active in the off season.
 October 23 - This three page issue contains a message from President Stein regarding the upcoming end-of-season activities. Also included are the minutes from the October Bod meeting and announcments regarding the 2006 Holiday Party to be held at the Quinn's and preliminary details about next year's banquet.
 September 22 - This issue contains 11 pages including two inserts. The newsletter has a message from President Stein with thoughts on the remainder of the season, the Husky towplane, and other musings. Don 'Mac' McKinlay contributed two articles; one dealing with the volunteer spirit at Freehold, the other chronicles the removal of a dangerous tree from the airport parking lot. One insert, submitted by Esteban Draganovic, analyzes 'cruising speed' on cross country flights. The second insert, submitted by Bill Kenyon, explores ways instructors can help folks avoid unplanned landings away from Freehold.
 August 8 - This four page issue contains details on the 2006 Mifflin trip and the September membership meeting to be held at Lee and Linda's place. Also included is an informative article by Bill Kenyon on the hazards of wind shift on take-off and what you might expect to happen when a headwind becomes a tailwind. Finally, David Rossetter weighs in with an article on CRM in Gliders. What's that you ask? Read the article and learn all about it.
 July 14 - This four page issue contains a recap of the 50th Anniversary celebration, a recount of the first encampment by Don McKinlay, a plea for consideration regarding trash disposal at the airport, and minutes from the July BoD meeting. There are also a number of accomplishments noted in the Et Cetera section and a Final Glide tribute to former member Jack Sargent.
 June 8 - This four page issue includes a message from President Stein on a number of topics including the Husky tow plane lease, runway face lift, junior members, and badge flights. Also included are the minutes from the May membership meeting and John Boyce remembers early times in Nutmeg. A final copy of the 50th Anniversary Picnic Reservation form is also available in this issue.
 May 9 - This six page issue contains a message from President Stein encouraging all members to come out and fly and to participate in the maintenance and upkeep airport facilities as well as club aircraft. New Operations chief David Rossetter introduces himself and his plans for the year. Wally Moran has some thoughts on just who is responsible for safe operations at Freehold and John Boyce tells us how it all began for the Nutmeg Soaring Association. Also included is a reservation form for the 50th Anniversary Picnic on July 2 and an order form for commemorative shirts for the occasion.
 April 7 - This four page issue contains a message from President Stein regarding the upcoming season and the planned 50th Anniversary celebration. Also included are the minutes from the March membership meeting and a safety article submitted by John Boyce. Featured are the preliminary details regarding the July 1 & 2 Anniversary Celebration
 March 9 - This four page issue contains a message from President Stein regarding the upcoming 2006 season, safety meetings and the planned 50th Anniversary celebration. Also included are the minutes from the 2006 Annual Meeting and the Februrary, 2006 BoD meeting. Wally Moran reminds student pilots to check the status of their student certificates. A review of Banquet 2006 was written by Jim Sidway.
 January 5 - This four page issue includes a message from President Stein regarding Nutmegs 50th anniversary, plans for cross country skill building, the 2006 Annual Meeting and plans for Nutmeg's post-mortgage future. Also included is an article on the necessity for spin training, the minutes from the December 2005 BoD meeting and a notice of off-season ground school being offered by the PGC. Last, but not least, is the reservation form for Annual Banquet 2006.
2005 November 1 - This two page issue contains an end of season message from President Stein, the minutes from the October BoD meeting and details on take apart weekend 2005.
 September 20 - This four page issue contains a message from President Stein and the minutes from the September Membership meeting. Wally Moran has some words about field safety and appropriate use of the 122.85 radio frequency. Esteban Draganovic contributes some interesting exchanges regarding your rights when landing out on private property and Peter Scarpelli offers some sage advice about flying north of Freehold in the Albany approach area.
 August 12 - This four page issue contains a message from President Stein covering a number of current topics, an article by Jeff Driscoll proposing a change for encampment at Freehold, and minutes from the most recent BOD, membership and Freehold LLC meetings.
 June 29 - This two page issue includes a message from President Stein on a variety of topics including the status of the Pawnee, Grob and airport related items. Also included are the minutes from the May 2005 Membership Meeting and a copy of the current duty schedule.
 May 19 - This four page issue contains a message from President Stein regarding the start of the 2005 soaring season, status of the Grob, and the completion of the Pawnee wing project. Also included are the minutes from the April BOD meeting and a compelling story of another great wave flight at Freehold by Bill Kenyon as well as the Duty Schedule through July 17.
 April 22 - This eight page issue contains a message from President Stein on a number of 'beginning of the season' issues. The minutes from the April membership meeting are also inlcluded along with an explanation of the new Nutmeg website format by Don Malin, a recap of opening weekend 2005 by the Boyces and farwell notes from former Nutmeggers Peter Krebs and Bryan Cotton. A four page reprint of EMERGENCY BAILOUT PROCEDURES FOR PILOTS by parachute expert Allen Silver is a must read for pilots who wear parachutes.
 March 9 - This three page issue contains a message from President Stein regarding the purchase of two Blanik l-23s and 2005 safety meetings. Minutes from the February 2005 BOD meeting are also included. A recap of Banquet 2005 includes an order form for the multimedia 'slide show' that was presented that night.
 February 1 - This two page issue contains the minutes from the January, 2005 membership meeting plus instructions for receiving the Nutmeg News electronically or via the US mail. The registration form for Banquet 2005 was reprinted in this issue.
 January 4 - This two page issue includes a message from President Stein regarding a variety of issues, the minutes from the December BOD meeting and the registration form for the 2005 banquet.
2004 December 9 - This three page issue contains the minutes from the October BOD meeting and the November Membership meeting. It also contains details on the 2004 Christmas Party at Randol Webb's house, notice of the Annual Banquet in February 2005 and a copy of a letter from Walter Rogg regarding recent member David Robinson's shares in Freehold, LLC.
 October 24 - This 4 page issue includes a 3 page insert from Esteban Dragonivic about possible hangar alternatives for glider storage at Freehold. The newsletter contains a message from President Stein on a variety of topics, minutes from the most recent membership and BOD meetings, a safety consideration from Kim Goldin, and an article on recent wave flights at Freehold by Bill Kenyon.
 September 3 - This four page issue contains a message from President Bruce Stein regarding a variety of issues including Grob repairs, the 2004 Mifflin trip, dogs at the field and lawn mowing. Also included are the minutes from the July Membership meeting.
 July 19 - This four page edition contains a message from President Bruce Stein covering a number of topics including the hangar project, the new 'lawn mower', encampment and flat tires on golf carts. There is also an article by Melissa Schipul on the subject of privately owned golf carts. The minutes from the July BOD Meeting and the July FALLC Meeting are included as well.
 June 10 - This six page issue includes a message from President Stein on a myriad of topics, a safety article by John Boyce, additional safety issues are discussed by Wally Moran, minutes from the most recent BOD and Membership meetings, an outline of a 10 year plan for Nutmeg, and review of the Memorial Day contest at Springfield, VT.
 April 22 - This four page issue contains an excellent article by Dave Rossetter on Approach Considerations at Difficult Sites, minutes from the March 2004 Membership meeting, a schedule of events for the 2004 soaring season and the duty schedule to date.
 March 1 - This four page issue contains a message from President Stein regarding the upcoming season. Also featured is the second installment in a series of articles by Nutmeg instructors, this month's comes from Randol Webb. The minutes from the February 2004 BOD meeting and a humorous set of new FARs round out this month's Nutmeg News.
 January 8 - This two page issue includes a letter from our new president, Bruce Stein, and the minutes from the December, 2003 BOD meeting. Also included is the Registration Form for Banquet 2004.
 January 2 - This seven page issue includes a message from President Stein, a safety article by Wally Moran about pre-flights, minutes from the 2004 Annual Membership meeting, the 2003 Financial Report, the 2004 budget and the registration form for Banquet 2004.
2003 December 3 - This six page issue contains minutes from the October and November membership meeting, a detailed proposal to construct hangars at Freehold, some soaring trivia and a recap of the 2003 soaring season's accomplishments.
 October 8 - This six page issue includes an article on soaring forecasts by Peter Scarpelli, minutes from the October BOD meeting including items about take apart day, projects needing to be done, hangars, winter glider storage and more. There is an article by Bill Kenyon about his visit to Albany ATC and an article about aviation weather services available on our website.
 September 17 - The 14 page electronic edition of the Sept. 2003 newsletter contains articles on a memorial service for Gene Carapetyan, detailed information about landout airport options near Freehold, where to obtain guidance for using hand held GPS units for navigation, and the minutes from the August BOD and Membership meetings. In addition, Esteban Dragonvic provides two informative write-ups: one about fire extinguishers and the other about lead-acid batteries.
 August 6 - This six page issue's President's Message covers a wide variety of topics including upcoming events, commercial glider rides, Blanik repair, issues with our horse farmer neighbor, Albany Class C Airspace and more. Also included are the minutes from the July Membership meeting, mini-bios for several new members and an article on the importance of checklists.
 June 25 - This six page issue contains a message from Bill Kenyon on a myriad of topics including encampment, comercial glider rides, hangars, airport rules and more. Also included are the BOD and membership meeting minutes from May 2003 and an article by Lincoln Stoller on airports and other land out options in the Freehold area.
 May 29 - This four page issue includes the minutes from the March 25, 2003 BOD meeting, a farewell to former Nutmegger Ray Duhaime, an article on the importance of spring check out flights, and an article regarding Duty Pilot assignments including the 2003 Duty Schedule.
 March 27 - This four page issue contains a message from Bill Kenyon covering a myriad of topics including upcoming events, airport modifications, safety issues, weekday soaring plans, rules for bunkhouse use, pending legislation and more. Also include are articles from Jeff Driscoll regarding publicity and Wally Moran regarding the 2003 Safety Fest in East Hartford.
 February 1 - This five page issue includes a message from president Bill Kenyon regarding current and future issues including the 2003 budget and fees, cross country training, and airport items, minutes from the November membership meeting and the January BOD and membership meetings. A registration form for Banquet 2003 is also included.
 January 4 - This three page issue contains minutes from the November, 2003 BOD meeting, minutes from the November Freehold Airport, LLC meeting and details and sign up sheet for the Annual Banquet 2003.
2002 November 2 - This one and one half page issue contains an article by Bill Kenyon that addresses Take Apart Day 2002, a recap of this fall's Mifflin trip, the state of affairs at Freehold and the need to increase membership in 2003. An article by Peter Krebs encourages all members to pay for services rendered, and John Boyce makes a plea for the membership to contribute to the Freehold Beautification Project.
 September 17 - This four page issue includes an article by Bill Kenyon on numerous topics including the upcoming Mifflin County encampment, take apart day, community relations, airport improvements, upcoming elections, flying the Catskills and more. Also included are the minutes from the August 31 general membership meeting at Freehold.
 August 6 - This eight page issue includes a message from Bill Kenyon on a variety of subjects, an article by Peter Krebs and Peter Meny about their land-out adventure in the Grob, an article by Wally Moran on radio use, an article by new member Lincoln Stoller about the new Nutmeg e-mail newsgroup, an article by John Boyce about Region 1 2002, an article by Don Malin about the new Online Discussion Group on the web site, and minutes from the June BOD and membership meetings and the July BOD meeting.
 June 9 - This single page issue contains President Bill Kenyon's reports on a variety of subjects including Encampment 2002 and several Freehold issues. Also included is an updated Who's Who at Nutmeg and a current membership list.
 May 1 - This four page issue brings you news of how things are progressing at our new home, Freehold airport. There is an article on interesting things to do in the Freehold area. Camping options at the field are presented. The minutes from April's membership meeting are included. A separate pull out of 'Who's Who in Nutmeg' is an added feature.
 April 11 - This four page issue contains articles on what can and should be done to expand Nutmeg's membership after having moved operations to our new home at Freehold airport. There is also a safety article submitted by Wally Moran and a page of photos of the early stages of the 'comfort facilities' at Freehold.
 March 14 - This six page issue focuses primarily on the purchase of Freehold airport. It contains messages from Bill Kenyon and Bruce Stein regarding the status and future of the Freehold purchase. Bill's message covers a number of other topics including opening day and this year's banquet.
 February 8 - This four page issue includes an article by Bill Kenyon outlining the next steps in Nutmegs transition to operating at Freehold. The focus is on the various tasks needing to be done and possible committee formation to handle them. Members are encouraged to offer their suggestions and efforts. This issue also contains an article submitted by Wally Moran about an opportunity to promote Nutmeg. The minutes from the January meeting, information on upcoming safety minutes, Banquet 2002 information and a reservation form are also included.
 January 8 - This five page issue (including insert) contains information on the purchase of Freehold Airport including an explanation of the share purchase and loan plan as well as the option to remain a full member without purchasing a share. There is a form to complete and submit with your payment. Also included are the details of the Annual Banquet 2002 with a mail in reservation form. The minutes for the November 2001 and December 2001 Membership meetings are included as well.
2001 December 9 - This four page issue contains information about the continued effor to put together an plan to purchase Freehold airport. Included is a synopsis of a new structure that would provide shareholder equity in Freehold ownership and allow for a non-ownership category in Nutmeg. Also included is an article by Wally Moran on a unique form of 'soaring' and a notice about a potential problem with the microphone cable in the Blanik L-33.
 October 25 - This four page issue focuses on the purchase of Freehold airport: the terms and conditions of the contract as well as legal and financial issues. In addition there is an article on the recently revised operating rules. Also included is a 'pull out' membership list as of October, 2001 (three additional pages).
 September 6 - This four page issue is devoted to discussions surrounding the future of Nutmeg Soaring and includes articles and charts regarding options currently under consideration
 August 14 - This four page issue contains the minutes from the June Membership meeting, an article recalling the accomplishments of Alexander Schleicher, the story of one member's long journey to completing his Silver Badge and the August - September duty schedule.
 June 5 - This six page issue includes a discussion by Bill Kenyon of the task of finding a new home base for the club, details on this year's encampment, the job of field safety manager (FSM) and instructor/tow pilot scheduling. Ann Jackson writes about determining the altitude required to make it back to the field at proper pattern altitude. Dave Piotrowski presents a personal account of an exceptional soaring day. Peter Krebs broaches the subject of remembering Nutmeg in your will. Also included are the minutes from the May BOD meeting and a list of Who's Who in Nutmeg.
 May 2 - This six page issue contains the minutes from the April membership meeting, details on this year's encampment, details on this year's lobster boil, and details on the last chance safety meeting for 2001. Also included is a recap of the first day of soaring in 2001 and a recap of safari 2001. And there is also a two page pull-out safety article.
 April 2 - This four page issue contains an article from the president regarding opening day and raising the time limit to two hours for 954 for pilots with a Bronze badge. Also included are the minutes from the March Board of Directors meeting, a safety article from John Boyce, notice of this year's new scholarship members and a reminder to student pilots to check the status of their licenses.
 March 7 - This four page issue (including mailing cover) contains articles about John Boyce's being named a Honorary Member of Numteg, the 2001 Annual Banquet, safety consideration when rigging, upcoming Safety Meetings, upcoming BFR ground school and upcoming cross country and performance soaring courses.
 February 11 - This seven page issue has articles about Nutmegger Tom Johnston who lost his life to the sport of soaring on January 28, 2001. There is also a message from the club's new president, Bill Kenyon, in which he shares his vision for the future of the club. The minutes for the January BOD and General Membership meetings are included in this month's issue and there is a 'pull out' membership list.
 January 2 - This four page issue (including the cover) contains a letter from Lee Ramsdell recapping the end of the 1999/2000 season, take apart day and the nominees for officers and board members for the years 2001/2002. Also included is a call for scholarship applications and the minutes of the November Board of Directors and Membership meetings. Details of the 2001 Annual Banquet and mail-in ticket order form are included in this issue as well.
2000 November 8 - This is a two page issue which contains member information and the final duty schedule for 2000
 October 7 - This four page issue includes the minutes from the board of directors and general membership meetings on September 8, 2000 and a message from Lee Ramsdell regarding take apart day, the status of hangar discussions and the repair of the cub.

 June 3 - This four page issue (including the mailing page) contains articles including a message from the president regarding field operations, details on places to stay in North Adams for encampment, minutes from the April membership meeting and an article on the cost savings associated with electronic newsletter delivery
 May 6 - This four page issue (including mailing page) contains tales of one member's travels to Argentina and another's journey on the Nutmeg Safari. Also, details on Encampment 2000 in North Adams, duty schedules for May and June, and Who's Who at Nutmeg.
 April 7 - This four page issue (including cover) contains articles on opening day, cross country school, cross country
preparation, first time competition flying, new operating rules and misc. club news.
 March 6 - This four page (including the mailing page) issue covers topics including mandatory safety meetings, a primer on glider naming schemes, Jeff Driscoll's Mifflin Adventures, a donated parachute, a plug for a North Adams encampment, and cross country ground schools. Y2K's first duty schedules are included.
 February 6 - This issue is six (6) pages long. It contains articles about Y2K Dues, Possible Summer Encampment at North Adams, Cross Country workshops, and Proper Radio Use Protocal. The 1999 Annual Report and the 2000 Budget are also included.
 January 1 - This issue is limited to the Annual Banquet announcement and sign up form.
