West Metro League
Girls in 4th-8th grade participate in the West Metro recreational league which is run by Minnetonka Community Education. By participating in this league, our teams will be able to compete against different competition each week instead of playing just Edina teams.
Games for the West Metro league are played on Saturday mornings and afternoons in Minnetonka, Wayzata, Chaska/Chanhassen and/or Edina. Teams play up to 2 games each week and games are professionally refereed. Teams practice once a week.
Depending upon the number of registrants, we anticipate there will be three 4th grade teams, two 5th grade teams, one 6th grade teams, and one 7th/8th grade team.
Parent coaches are needed for this league. Coaches are encouraged to attend an EBA provided training session conducted by the Edina High School Girls’ Basketball coaching staff before the start of the season. Coaches will be given one ball, first aid kit and game book. Coaches should attend the season kick-off event called "Jump Ball" where coaches will receive their rosters, uniforms and coaching materials as well as dinner. The EBA will be on hand to train coaches on how to login and use the EBA's website.
The EBA works with the Edina Park & Rec. department to put practice schedules together. Teams practice once a week (schedule TBD). The 4th-8th grade teams play in the West Metro league and will have games in Minnetonka, Wayzata, Chaska/Chanhassen and Edina on Saturday mornings/afternoons. The 7th/8th grade team will also have games in Eden Prairie. Game times fall between 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Games begin in early December. Games will be played through early March. Teams may play up to 2 games on any given Saturday. The season ends with a tournament.
