Football Information

A partnership with North Plainfield High School Football helping to build a successful High School football program for the future.

The North Plainfield Junior Canucks Football and Cheer Program (Junior Canucks) is proud to participate in the Patriot Football League, which was founded in 2005 by The Bridgewater Football League and The Watchung Hills Junior Warriors with the ideals of creating a youth football experience where kids can learn the fundamental skills of football in a rewarding and enjoyable environment. The Patriot Football League has grown to six towns with over 2,000 football players participating in four levels of play.

The Junior Canucks program is open to all boys and girls in grades K-8, who reside in the Borough of North Plainfield.

The Junior Canucks goal is to provide a positive youth football and cheer experience to as many children as possible while preparing them for a successful high school career. The concept of the Patriot Football League was developed to cultivate a fun and enjoyable environment to help young athletes improve their skills and to perform those skills to the best of their abilities.

With this philosophy in mind, the league will consist of flag football and cheer for grades Kindergarten through 2nd and tackle football and cheer levels for grades 3rd through 8th. In addition, JV and Varsity travel teams will compete in the Junior Skyland Football Conference.

Each of the flag football teams will have a maximum of 16 players and each of the tackle football teams will have a maximum of 18 players. This will allow for maximum playing time for all. If a child does not start on offense then he MUST start on defense. This will guarantee every child a starting position and a minimum of at least half of the plays in every game.

There will be no weight restrictions at any level with the exception of positional weight requirements at every tackle level. Players over a certain weight at these levels will not carry the ball and will be required to play on the line.

The North Plainfield Junior Canucks Football and Cheer Program will begin practice in mid-August and play all games on Saturdays.
