What is Windsor CopperHeads Lacrosse?

  • Windsor CopperHeads Lacrosse is an organization dedicated to teaching boys lacrosse throughout Northern Colorado.

My son has no experience in lacrosse.  Can he play lacrosse this spring?

  • All boys in grades 1-8 are welcome to play for Windsor CopperHeads Lacrosse.

My daughter wants to play lacrosse.  Where can she play?

  • All girls are encouraged to play for the Havoc Program in Fort Collins. For information please visit http://www.havoclax.org/.

What is the the 2017 spring schedule?

  • Practices will begin practice the week of March 13th.  The season will conclude at the CYLA Championships on May 20 & 21.

  • Boys games will be held every Saturday from April 8 through the CYLA Championship, Saturday May 20 & Sunday May 21. Teams will also have assigned games on Sunday April 9 and Sunday April 30.  Makeup games may held on other selected Sundays during the season.

  • All teams will conclude their season at the CYLA Championships, held Saturday May 20 and Sunday May 21.  Teams will play only on one of these two dates.

When and where are practices held?

  • Most teams will practice twice per week in Windsor. Exact field location TBD.

  • Some boys teams (generally older, established teams) may have a third weekly practice.

  • Head coaches will determine the practice location and days for their teams.

Where are BVL games held ?

  • All teams will travel for away games to locations around Colorado such as Denver, Fort Collins, Loveland, Broomfield, Pueblo, and Colorado Springs.

What is the registration fee for 2017?

  • BOYS registration fee will be $325 plus any uniform cost ($80:  $45 for jersey, $35 for shorts).  All registrants must have US Lacrosse membership ($25 if renewal is necessary).  Registration fee covers our field rental expenses, lacrosse equipment including goals and balls, league fees, CYLA Championship entry fee, officials charges, coaching and educational expenditures, and administrative costs.

  • Our uniforms are custom-made in the USA in Colorado.

Why are players required to have US Lacrosse membership?

  • Membership in US Lacrosse provides us with substantially lower insurance costs and provides our players with supplemental insurance.   US Lacrosse provides our sport with important safety research, rules guidelines, and coaching development programs.

  • Most off-season lacrosse tournaments, camps and clinics by other providers require US Lacrosse membership as well, so you will save money in the future.

  • Our registration system is integrated with US Lacrosse membership. If you need to purchase or renew US Lacrosse membership, you will be redirected to www.uslacrosse.org to sign up your son and then returned to our website to complete the registration process. If you have issues with the US Lacrosse membership process, email Angela at . Any issue with membership will not prevent your son from playing with us.

How are  teams formed?

  • Boys teams are formed on the basis of GRADE, with AN AGE CUTOFF.  This means that boys in the same grade will generally be grouped in the same age bracket, provided that they meet the age cutoff date of June 1.

  • Click here for more info on Age Brackets:   Age Eligibility Overview

How do we know what team our son is on, and when his practices are?

  • Team rosters, practice schedules, and locations will be emailed to parents and posted on the website.  Practices will begin the week of March 13, 2017.  Coaches and/or Team Parents will also email their teams as soon as possible after receiving their rosters.

  • You can view these rosters by clicking on the "Team Pages" tab at the top of the website, and then clicking on "Rosters" on its dropdown menu.  Rosters can only be viewed by WCL members, so you will need to log in at the bottom of the page.

What equipment do players need?

  • Boys must have a boys lacrosse stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder and elbow pads, a cup, and a mouthguard.

  • Hockey gear is acceptable for new players.  Hockey helmets must have a 4 point strap and be NOCSAE approved.  We do not recommend the use of hockey gloves in lieu of lacrosse gloves, due to their increased stiffness and lack of dexterity.

I have a question-- whom should I contact?

  • For questions please email Angela Maxwell at .
