Hello Sno-King 10U players,

We hope you have been enjoying your summer break, and are ready for the 2017-18 hockey season!

Sno-King has some exciting changes to the 10U hockey program this year (players born 2007-2008). All interested 10U players will have optional, weekly skills sessions, in addition to team practices. The skills sessions are offered each week at both rinks and will help players hone and refine individual skill sets to help each player maximize his or her development potential.

As a USA Hockey model association, Sno-King follows ADM Model guidelines. 10U age players can rapidly refine and improve individual skills with many hours of repetitive movements. This allows players to master the skills needed to succeed in today’s fast paced game. The skills sessions are designed to help all 10U players improve and develop their hockey skills during this important developmental age.

10U teams will continue with shared, station based practices using all ADM Model recommendations. Team rosters will have 12-14 players and two goalies to maximize practice development and game playing time.

2017-18 Teams:

  • 10A level: four balanced teams, competing in the MHL. Coaches: TBD Selection skates: TBD

At the A level, the main priority is to create four balanced teams. Players will skate at both Kirkland and Renton. There is no rink preference guarantee.

  • 10U C level: four balanced teams in Renton and four balanced in Kirkland. They will compete in the MHL, playing half ice games and will have Development teams. Coaches TBA. Evaluation skates: see below

  • 10U A and C divisions will each have a development team and play half ice in 2017-18

At Sno-King, the 10U age group is the first introduction to the selection process in hockey. At this level, players can be evaluated for A level hockey, or can remain the playing at C level. A level players generally have more hockey experience, and the teams play against players with a similar skill level. There is some additional ice time at A and an increased fee. C level players will also continue to develop their individual hockey skills and will compete against other C level teams to encourage and promote development. Within the MHL,  and A players will play ½ ice games, which allows more game time and puck touches.

Sno-King encourages all 10U players to participate in the A team selection process, even if your player is not planning on playing A level hockey this season. These early evaluations are a good way to warm up for the upcoming season and to see how your player compares to other Sno-King players.

10U Coaches

Our Sno-King coaches are committed to creating a positive impact on the lives of our players. Coaches follow the Positive Coaching Alliance principles, and, as part of our ADM Model association status, are up to date with all the latest player development techniques from USA Hockey. All coaches are certified in USA Hockey’s SafeSport and USA Hockey’s Coaching program. These programs are a key piece of Sno-King's on going player safety and education. Parents are encouraged to take this free course also: http://www.usahockey.com/safesporttraining

Additional considerations:

10U ATeam expenses in addition to the Sno-King player fees may include:

  • Personal travel and accommodations

  • Team warm-ups

  • Other miscellaneous expenses that the team may decide to undertake

All PNAHA vs PNAHA associations play 10U half ice starting 17-18 season

10U Players Playing Up-

Having 10U players play up at 12U is strongly discouraged but occasionally there are compelling reasons to do so. Each association, at their discretion, may allow up to two (2) 10U players per season to play up at the 12U division.  Additional players playing up may be considered with an exception request to the state ADM director, who will only consider the request if it’s due

10U C: Team expenses in addition to the Sno-King player fees may include tournament fees and any personal travel/accommodation expenses.
