Sunday, January 27, at 5:30 PM

 

ALL Nationals players and at lease one (1) parent are REQUIRED to attend the Annual Nationals Informational Dinner on Sunday, January 27, at 5:30 PM at the Sparkman’s Home, 7 Tory Hole Road. Please park on Tory Hole Road or on Red Coat Pass.

Please bring the following to be collected at the meeting:

  1. Completed Medical Form for Extended Field Trip Participation
  2. Completed Emergency Card and Permission Slip for Squash Trip
  3. Completed Medication Authorization Forms (2), if Applicable
  4. Check made payable to "DARIEN SQUASH", final amount to be confirmed on January 26

DATES

 

2019 Nationals are scheduled for Friday, February 1, through Sunday, February 3.

 

TRANSPORTATION

 

The DHS Squash Nationals bus is tentatively departing from DHS on Thursday, January 31, at 7:00 PM.  PLEASE NOTE that we will confirm bus departure date and time on January 26 after U.S. Squash publishes division start times.

 

COSTS

 

The co-pay for each Nationals Team player will not exceed $TBD, and includes tournament fees, transportation, accommodations with continental breakfast, and team meals.  We will finalize the co-pay amount on January 26, and ask that you please bring a check made payable to DARIEN SQUASH to the mandatory Squash Nationals Dinner Meeting on January 27 at the Sparkman’s Home.

 

LODGING

 

Players: Darien Squash has secured rooms for players at The Simsbury Inn, so no action is needed.

Parents / Guests: Darien Squash has negotiated a special group rate for parents and guests to stay at the The Simsbury Inn

  • Rate: $129.00 + 15% tax and includes:

    • Continental Breakfast located in the hotel lobby

    • Use of the health club, indoor pool saunas, and Jacuzzi

    • Complimentary bike program in season

    • Complimentary washer and dryer on the second floor for guest use

  • Deadline: Parents / Guests must reserve their room by this Wednesday, January 23, at Noon in order to get the group rate. After this Wednesday, our rooms will be released to the public as the hotel is now at capacity and has a waiting list due to the Squash Nationals tournament and another event.

  • Cancellation Policy: There is a 24-hour cancellation policy, so if you are booking your room to start Thursday evening and we change our departure, you are still able to cancel that Thursday night. The hotel manager is fully aware and understanding of our tentative match scheduling.

  • Breakfast: A continental breakfast is included with your room.  The breakfast is consists of baked goods (fresh bread and muffins made on premises at their bakery), fruit, yogurt, cereal, a hot beverage, juice, whole fruit, and hard-boiled eggs.  If the players and/or parents prefer a hot meal, there is a cafĂ© at the Inn so bring extra cash.

There are 4 required DHS Nationals Forms attached to this email which must be filled out and brought to the Mandatory Nationals Meeting on Sunday, January 27:

  1. The Medical Form For Extended Field Trip Participation (Word File)

  3. If Applicable - Prescription Medication Authorization Form (Word File)

  4. If Applicable - Non-Prescription Medication Authorization Form (Word File)

 

FOOD

 

Part of the player co-pay will go towards organized lunches and team dinners for the PLAYERS ONLY.  Breakfast is provided by the Inn.  Lunch will be provided to athletes at the various venues. Parents are on their own for lunch.  Players will be attending organized dinners together and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Parents will be on a separate check and are asked to PLEASE BRING EXTRA CASH and not use credit cards when paying for our group dinners. It just makes it easier for all involved.

Per the DHS policy, NO ALCOHOLIC beverages are allowed to be consumed by students, parents, family members, and/or guests at any school related event (i.e., during group meals on our trip).

 

DRINKS AND SNACKS FOR BUS

 

We will be assigning cases of water, gatorade and snacks to each player for the bus ride and for matches. Please look out for a detailed email on this shortly.

 

LAUNDRY

 

Please put your name in your uniforms with permanent pen or duck tape. Laundry, UNIFORMS ONLY, will be washed by team managers if necessary.  Please bring extra uniforms if you have them.
