  High School Program Coordinator & Varsity Assistant Coach: CJ Berry 

 

CJ was raised in Ossining New York and attended Ossining High School where he started playing Lacrosse as a sophomore.  As an attack man, he lettered in his junior and senior years and was co-captain as a senior in ‘77.  CJ then attended Cornell University where he played in ’78 and ’79 earning a Varsity B letter and having the good fortune to be coached by Eamon McEneaney and Bruce Arena; two Cornell Hall of Famers and Eamon being hot off of having just won two consecutive D1 national titles with the Big Red.  CJ and his wife Michele reside in Chandler where they have lived for the last 18 years, and, while they are empty-nesters now, their children (26 and 29) are both products of the Chandler Unified School District.

       Varsity Head Coach: Daniel Nelson 

 

Dan was born and raised in the East Valley. His lacrosse playing days started in the 6th grade and continued into college. Dan was a member of the Chandler High School lacrosse team and graduated in 2012. For the Chandler team, he accrued many accolades including two-time team president, 2012 Offensive MVP, 2012 AZ D1 All-Star and was member of the 2010 State Runner-Up team. In addition to the high school team, Dan was a member of Arizona’s top travel team with which he competed in many tournaments across the United States. He received many NCAA D3 offers but decided to stay in state to play and earn a degree from ASU. He was a member of the 2013 Sun Devil lacrosse team but stepped away from the sport as a player after the one season. In 2014, Dan joined the Chandler Lacrosse coaching staff and has been a member ever since. He is now entering his 6th year with the program and 3rd as the Head Coach of the Chandler Dogs. Dan is also a coach for the Arizona Hot Sauce Lacrosse travel team, a top club program that competes in many tournaments across the West Coast as well as I9 Zip Lacrosse. Dan graduated from ASU in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering and is an Assistant Preconstruction Manager for Core Construction.

        Varsity Assistant Coach: Scott Farress 

 

Scott was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He began playing lacrosse in 3rd grade and continued on throughout his college career. Scott attended Monroe Community College after high school where he played two seasons with the Tribunes. While there he scored 192 career points and was a 2nd Team All- American. After his time at MCC, he was recruited to play for Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). During his time at RIT he earned honors such as 2nd Team All-American, 1st Team All-American, 1st All- Empire 8 Team, as well as selected to play in the North vs. South game at the end of the season. After college Scott had the opportunity to go on and play in the MLL, but decided to take a job offer with Lacrosse Unlimited and continued to contribute on a different level. In 2016, Scott was the offensive coach for Lexington High School in Columbia, South Carolina. Scott was also a private instructor for high school lacrosse athletes. Scott’s family just moved to Arizona last year and he is super excited to be a part of the Chandler Lacrosse Family.
