BASEBALL

Baseball is a summer sport for boys in grades 3-8.  Registration is in March with late registration open until mid-April.  Cost is $60 per player.  There are no tryouts as we usually have one team per age division.  Practices are twice a week at SMM starting mid-April.  League games (usually 6 to 7 depending on number of teams in league) are played week nights and weekends at various schools during June.  Tournament begin the last week of June with the finals before the 4th of July holiday.  Players must provide their own gloves.


BASKETBALL

Basketball is a winter sport for boys and girls in grades 3-8.  Registration is in September with late registration open until mid-October.  Cost is $70 per player.  There are tryouts the last two weeks of October as we usually have 3 to 8 teams per age division.  Practices are twice a week at SMM (some teams might have one practice at a non-SMM facility) starting in late-October.  League games (usually 6 to 7 depending on number of teams in league) are played Saturdays/Sundays at various schools in December and January.  All teams will participate in a Christmas tournament during the holiday break. Tournament (5th - 8th grades) begins the first week of February with the finals either the 2nd or 3rd weekend of February.  


CHEER 

This is a great opportunity to learn cheer fundamentals, build your confidence and boost your school spirit. Cheer is a fall (football) & winter (basketball) sport for girls in grades 1-8.  You can cheer for both or either football and basketball. Both sports/fall registration is in May with late registration open through July.  Basketball only registration will run concurrence with basketball registration.  $35 fee includes a hair bow and bloomers.  Practices are once a week at SMM for 1.5 hours  starting late July or early August.  Jumps, dances and of course cheers are just a few things the athlete will work on.  The team cheers one sports game on the weekends.  Undershirts and shoes are athletes responsibility.


CROSS COUNTRY 

This is a great opportunity to introduce your child to the basics of running and staying fit! Come join us and introduce your child to the awesome world of running!  Cross Country is a fall sport for boys and girls in grades K-8.  Registration is in May with late registration open through July.  $35 fee includes a singlet which the runners keep and all meet fees.  Practices are once a week at ?? starting early August for grades 5-8 and mid-August for grades K-4.  Runners will be broken into age groups at practices.  Parent volunteers are needed to help keep younger children on the course.  The team competes in at least four meets ending with the CSAA City Championship (grades 5-8) and Fun Run (grades 1-4) in early October.


FIELD HOCKEY

Field Hockey is a summer sport for girls in grades 3-8.  Registration is in March with late registration open until mid-April.  Cost is $55 per player.  There are no tryouts as we usually have one team per age division.  Practices are twice a week at SMM (or possibly at SHA) starting mid-April.  League games (usually 6 to 7 depending on number of teams in league) are played week nights and weekends at various schools during June.  Tournament begin the last week of June with the finals before the 4th of July holiday.  Players must provide their own mouth guard, shin guards, and approved CSAA eye gear.


FLAG FOOTBALL 

Flag Football is a fall sport for boys in grades 1-2.  Cost is $40  per player. Registration in May with late registration running until practices begin.  Practices begin late July (2 times a week at SMM). League starts in late August (league games played on weekends at various schools) and ends mid-October. Uniform and flags provided.  Players must have a mouth guard.

 

 


FOOTBALL           

Football is a fall sport for boys in grades 3-8.  Registration is in May with late registration open until mid-July.  Cost is $115 per player.  There are no tryouts as we usually have one team per age division.  In the most recent years, we merged with Holy Spirit.  Practices are twice a week at SMM starting mid-July.  Jamborees games are held in mid-August with league games played on weekends at various schools starting in late August.  Playoffs (5th - 8th grades) begin mid-October and finish with the Toy Bowl the last weekend in October.  Players will be provided uniform jersey, shoulder pads and helmets but must provide their own pants (white) and mouth guard.  


GOLF      

Golf is a summer sport for boys and girls in grades 3-8.  Cost is $40. Registration in May with late registration running until 2 weeks before the tournament.  CSAA tournament is during the week in early June at Iroquois. Golf Course.  Golfers must have some prior experience.  If there is interest there might be a practice or two.  Golfers must provide there own clubs.  Golf shirt and hat will be provided (golfer will get to keep).


LACROSSE      

Lacrosse is a spring sport for boys in grades 3th through 8th.  

 

 

 

 


POWDER PUFF      

Powder Puff Football is a fall sport for girls in grades 5-8.  Cost is $35. Registration in May with late registration running until practices begin. Practices begin late July (2 times a week at various locations). League starts in late August (league games played on Monday nights (5th/6th) and Saturday afternoons (7th/8th) at St Bernard). Playoffs start mid-October and finish last weekend in October. This is fun, low-key sport and many girls also play other SMM Fall Sports. Uniform shirt (player gets to keep) and flags provided. Players must have a mouth guard.


SOCCER (KINDERGARTEN - 2ND GRADE)      

Soccer is a spring sport for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 2nd.  Cost is $35. CSAA does not offer soccer for younger kids but we have take part in a fun and instructional league with St Michael.  There is both a fall and spring league.  Registration is in May for Fall and December for Spring.  There are all girls teams and co-ed teams (depending upon other schools having all girl teams).  During sign-ups, girls can request to be on all-girl team. There are no tryouts.  Teams are chosen by the Athletic Director with input from coaches and emphasis on grade unity. Teams practice at SMM 2 times a week for 1.5 hours at a time starting right after teams are announced. League games are played at St Michael on weekends for 7 weeks.. There is no tournament. Players will be provided a uniform jersey before the first game.

Softball is a spring sport for girls in grades 3rd through 8th.  Cost is $55. Registration opens in December and closes in early March.  Payment is due around the first of February.  Machine pitch for 3rd and 4th grades, player pitch for 5th through 8th graders.  All experience levels are welcome.  Practices start in early March.  League games are mostly played on weekends and start in mid-April and run through mid-May.  Tournament (grades 5th through 8th) starts after league games finish and usually finishes up before the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  Players need to provide their own gloves.

 


SWIM TEAM      

Swim is a late-winter sport for boys and girls in grades 1-8.  Cost is $60 for practices and meet and $30 for meet only. Siblings will receive a $10 discount.  Registration opens n December and closes two weeks before the meet.  Practices at Blairwood Pool on Sunday evenings from 7-8 pm starting first week in January. CSAA city championship meet is held on Saturday in early March. Swimmers receive a t-shirt.


TENNIS      

Tennis is a spring sport for boys and girls in grades 1st through 8th.  Cost is $70. Registration opens in December and closes in early March.  To participate in matches, each child must be rated by a club pro.  The evaluations will take place at Louisville Indoor Raquet Club in late February.  Players must have a 1.5 rating to participate in the matches.  There will be 2 scrimmage matches through the season for children not eligible. Practices and matches will be held at Louisville Indoor Raquet Club starting in early March. Matches are held on Saturdays starting in March.  The CSAA City Tennis Tournament is held in 2nd week of June.

 


TRACK AND FIELD      

Track and Field is a spring sport for boys and girls in grades 5th through 8th.  Cost is $35. Registration opens in December and closes two weeks before the first meet.  Practices usually start in early March. CSAA city finals meet is the last weekend in April at St John Paul Academy (St Pius Campus).  There are several other meets that runners can choose to participate in as well at additional cost.  Track and Field is not only for those that like to run but also for those that may like field events like long jump, high jump, and even shot putt.

Track and Field (Fun Run) is a spring sport for boys and girls in grades Kindergarten through 4th.  Cost is $25. Registration opens in December and closes two weeks before the first meet.  Practices usually start in early March. CSAA Fun Run is mid-May at St John Paul Academy (St Pius Campus).  There are several other meets that runners can choose to participate in as well at additional cost.  Track and Field is not only for those that like to run but also for those that may like field events like long jump, high jump, and even shot putt.  

 

Volleyball is a spring sport for boys and girls in the 5th through 8th grade.  Cost is $55.  Sign Ups are done online in December.  Late registration will be accepted until midnight the day before try-outs but there will be a $10 late fee. Payment is due around February 1st.  CSAA sets that dates that tryouts will be held usually mid-to-late February.  Practices will start the week after tryouts.  Teams practice at SMM 2 times a week for 1.5 hours at a time. League games are played on weekends (2 or more games on the same day) starting first weekend in March and running for 4 weeks. Tournament (5th-8th grade teams only) is usually the first week of April but varies based on the timing of Spring Break and Holy Week.  Players will be provided a uniform jersey before the first game.  Uniforms are expected to be returned on a timely basis after the last game.  Players must provide their own black shorts and knee pads.

Volleyball is a fall sport for girls in the 3rd through 8th grades.  Cost is $60.  Sign Ups are done online in May.  Late registration will be accepted until midnight the day before try-outs but there will be a $10 late fee. Payment is due around July 1st.  CSAA sets that dates that tryouts will be held usually late July.  Practices will start the week after tryouts.  Teams practice at SMM 2 to 3 times a week for 1.5 hours at a time. League games are played on Saturday mornings/afternoons (with some exceptions on Sundays) usually starting the weekend before Labor Day weekend and running for 8 weeks (no games on Labor Day weekend).  Tournament (5th-8th grade teams only) is usually the last 2 weeks of October.  Players will be provided a uniform jersey before the first game.  Uniforms are expected to be returned on a timely basis after the last game.  Players must provide their own black spandex shorts and knee pads.


VOLLEYBALL CHICKS 

Volleyball is a fall sport for girls in the 1st and 2nd grades.  Cost is $30.  Sign Ups are done online in May.  Late registration will be accepted until midnight the day before try-outs but there will be a $10 late fee. Payment is due around July 1st.  CSAA does not offer volleyball for 1st and 2nd graders but we have created a fun and instructional league with St Patrick, St Mary Academy, St Michael and St Aloysius PWV.  League games (7) are played at SMM and.or other schools in the league on Sundays 1-5 pm starting the last weekend in August.  No tryouts.  Teams are chosen by the Athletic Director with input from coaches and emphasis on grade unity. Teams will be announced around the first of August.  Practices are once a week at SMM for 1 hour starting right after teams are formed. There is not tournament. Players will be provided a uniform jersey before the first game.  Uniforms are expected to be returned on a timely basis after the last game.  Players must provide their own black spandex shorts and knee pads.
