Lacrosse, considered to be America’s first sport, was ‘The Creator’s Game,’ played by Native Americans to resolve conflicts, heal the sick and develop strong men. The game was christened ‘Lacrosse’ by French missionaries who observed the game centuries ago.
Lacrosse is fast-paced and full of action. The sport is a combination of skills similar to basketball, soccer, and hockey, and played with a stick, the crosse, a ball, and two goals. Anyone can play lacrosse, the big or the small; the game requires coordination and speed, not brawn.
Fairfield Lacrosse Club is a not-for-profit organization designed to implant firmly in the youth of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, and courage, so that they may be stronger and happier, and will grow to be good, clean, healthy citizens in the community of Fairfield, Ohio. This objective shall be achieved by providing supervised competitive lacrosse.
Fairfield Lacrosse Club fielded its first team in the spring of 2005. It was made up of 3rd through 6th grade boys from the Fairfield area. Some of the players had previously played with other local clubs, like Lakota for a year or two, but the majority of the 20 or so kids had never picked up a stick. As these boys continued to play, and since 2005, we've fielded teams for boys from 3rd through 12th grades. In 2008, Fairfield Lacrosse Club fielded its first boys' high school team, and in 2011 the team fielded its first girls' team, at the high school level. The boys' high school team made its first-ever state tournament appearance in 2011 after winning a school-record 16 games. In 2014, Fairfield’s high school team moved from the OHSLA’s Club Division to the Scholastic Division to compete in Division I. The girls' high school team (after two seasons and a brief hiatus) returned in 2016 in OSLA's Division I. The 2016 high school teams are Fairfield Lacrosse Club's final club-level high school teams, as the OSHAA adopted lacrosse as an official, school sponsored sport starting in 2017. Fairfield Lacrosse Club will continue to run Youth and Middle School level teams as we seek to grow and develop the sport for boys and girls in grades K-8.
Fairfield Lacrosse Club has proven to be a competitive force in the Cincinnati area played in the Ohio Club South division of US Lacrosse. Over the years, we've competed successfully in several end-of-season tournaments at the high school and middle school level and have become a force to be reckoned with. Focused on player development with an ‘everybody plays’ attitude, our goal is to grow the sport of lacrosse, the fastest game on two feet!
