The objective of KYL shall be to implant firmly in the children of Killingworth the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.
The Killingworth Youth League was formed in 1974. The Little League organization began with 4 boys teams. Today there are 20 baseball and softball teams for boys and girls ages 4-16. The purpose of the Killingworth Youth League is to promote the enjoyment of America's favorite pastime. Using volunteer coaches at every level, KYL strives to provide quality baseball and softball instruction for children of all ages living in the town of Killingworth.
The organization meets monthly (the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Killingworth Firehouse). All coaches, umpires, team coordinators and parents are welcome to attend.
KYL conducts a registration for the spring baseball season beginning each December. In lieu of a candy fundraiser, parents/guardians of each player are required to volunteer at the concession stand at Sheldon Park during the season. (it does not have to be during games where your child is playing). A parent from each team will be organizing concession coverage when the season starts.
