Our Founding and History
In 2007, DeShawn Carter and David Hohimer assembled the framework for a football and cheer program in West Seattle. After a lot of hard work and generous donations from the community, West Seattle Jr. Football and Cheer launched its inagural season 2008.
To provide fitness, positive life skills, and promote high achievement in school and the community for youth ages six to 14. We strive to provide affordable programming to many of children in our community who cannot afford to experience football and cheer with their peers.
West Seattle Jr. Wildcats and Cheer consists of six age-and-weight targeted football teams and one cheer team. We are 100% volunteer based and our franchise holds several championships. Our encourage our players and cheerleaders to conduct themselves with honor and dignity off the field.
West Seattle Junior Football and Cheer franchise is a non-profit (501C3 Corporation).
We are a proud member of the 82 team Northwest Junior Football League (NJFL). The league is a non-profit organization providing youth football and cheer opportunities across King and Snohomish counties. It’s mission is to provide a positive introduction to youth football and cheer and to increase participation, experience, knowledge, safety and skills for all players and participants. NJFL coaches are USA football Tackled Certified: a nationally accredited coaching education. NJFL also participates in Heads Up Football, a comprehensive approach to a better and safer game.
