Cabrini Athletic Boosters Code of Conduct and Release

Perspective: The Cabrini Athletic Boosters (CAB) organization provides area youth the opportunity to safely participate in athletic activities in a fun, respectful, and family-oriented environment. While the boys and girls are encouraged to apply themselves to learning and exhibiting skills using their best efforts, adherence to teamwork and good sportsmanship should never be diminished by undignified behavior and an excessive adult or youth focus upon “victory at all costs.” Remember… these are our children and this is their opportunity to laugh, learn, and develop lifelong athletic and interpersonal skills.

Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship is exhibited when teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials treat each other with respect. Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from you and the other adults in their lives, but especially their parents and their coaches. Youth who see adults behaving in a sportsmanlike way gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports (and life) are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity — whether they win or lose a game.

Parents can help their kids understand that good sportsmanship includes both small gestures and heroic efforts. It starts with something as simple as shaking hands with opponents before a game and includes acknowledging good plays made by others and accepting bad calls gracefully.

Displaying good sportsmanship isn't always easy. It can be tough to congratulate the opposing team after losing a close or important game. But the kids who learn how to do it will benefit in many ways.

Kids who bully or taunt others on the playing field aren't likely to change their behavior when in the classroom or in social situations. In the same way, a child who practices good sportsmanship is likely to carry the respect and appreciation of other people into every other aspect of life.

Release: By registering your youth in our program, you (on behalf of your youth and their guests) hereby release CAB and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Parish, their employees and volunteers, and affiliated organizations from any liability associated with the foreseeable risks of participating in or attending youth sporting activities. Additionally, you understand that CAB may publish images, video, audio, and testimonials obtained during youth sporting activities at our facility.

Commitment: You, your youth, and your family members/friends are guests at our facility. By registering your youth in our program, you accept and understand that you are responsible for your own personal conduct and that of your youth, and your youth’s guests at our facility. As such, we require that each individual respect our facility, our program, and all people participating in our program as players, volunteers, or spectators.

This is a game for our youth to enjoy. Behavior that violates the enjoyment or dignity of any child, coach, volunteer, or spectator will not be tolerated and may subject you to removal from our facility and termination of your family’s participation in our program without refund.

At a minimum, you commit to honoring the following personal conduct rules:

  • You will always exhibit good sportsmanship and behavior at your youth’s game and practices.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct including inappropriate language directed toward a coach, player, opponent, referee or director is prohibited.
  • Pets, alcoholic beverages and tobacco use anywhere at our facility, including at/near a field, before/during/after a practice or game is prohibited.
  • Spectators are not allowed on the playing field unless directed to do so by a coach, referee or league director.
  • You remain responsible for any litter that you create and will do your best to keep all of our soccer areas clean.

Binding Agreement: If you do not understand the terms described above throughout our Code of Conduct and Release, then you are expected to contact our league director for clarification prior to registering your youth in our athletic programs. Your registration in our program confirms that you agree to abide by all terms of the commitment and release described above. No additional notice or warnings are required to be given to you, and your violation of the terms may result in immediate enforcement.

Please remember that this is a volunteer program. We cannot have a program without volunteers. Many people give of their own time to coordinate, coach and run the program. If you are unhappy with any part of our soccer program, we would be happy to have you join our volunteer family. Please email us at for more information.
