Pre-K & K T-Ball League (Kindergarten)

Emphasis is on fun and instruction, not winning. We do not keep score during the game and there are no league standings.

Game Rules

  1. Four (4) inning game maximum - 1 - 1 1/2 hour time limit.
  2. All players hit off the Tee. This is a "tee ball" league.
  3. All players bat once each inning.
  4. Post your batting order in the dugout so the kids can keep track.
  5. Batting order must be reversed each inning. (top to bottom, then bottom to top).
  6. Outs are part of the game. If a player is out, then he should return to the bench. There is no limit to the number of outs per inning.
  7. Runners should not advance on an overthrow at any base, or be allowed to run wild. If there is a hit to the outfield, the batter should run the bases, but must stop once the ball enters the infield (as soon as it enters the infield-even if not under control by the defensive team).
  8. There is no stealing and no bunting.
  9. All players play defensively in the field. This includes 4 infielders and the "pitcher" who stands near the pitcher's mound. There is no catcher. Make sure the players are in infield position. Players should learn the positions. All remaining players play the outfield.
  10. Rotate players' positions every inning. Let players play every position - be fair.
  11. A player should be on the bench for one inning only - NEVER two in a row.
  12. There is no scorekeeping at this level. Encourage the team to make good plays and don't focus on the score. There are no team or individual standings.
  13. Batters and base runners must wear protective helmet.
  14. Home Team takes 1st base dugout.
  15. There is no on deck circle or area to be used for practice swinging at any time. The only child who is to have a bat in his/her hand is the current batter who is under the supervision of a coach. THE CHILDREN ARE NOT TO SWING, PICK UP, OR HOLD BATS IN THE DUGOUT. Batters are not allowed to warm up.
  16. A maximum of 2 coaches may be anywhere on the field defensively during the playing of the game. Coaches at bat should have 1 assisting the batter at home plate and in the coaches boxes at 1st and 3rd.
  17. Umpires: The managers of the teams playing are responsible for the umpiring of the games.
  18. If there is any threat of lightning or thunder, stop the game.         back to top of page

Rookie (6 year olds)
Emphasis is on fun and instruction, not winning. We do not keep score during the game and there are no league standings.

Game Rules

  1. 1 1/2 hour time limit.
  2. Coaches pitch to the players. After 5 unsuccessful swings the ball will be placed on the tee. The reason for this is to keep all the kids engaged in the game and not lose focus.
  3. If a player is out he should return to the bench. Every player for each team will bat each inning, regardless of outs.
  4. Coaches must rotate positions each inning. Never have a player play outfield 2 innings in a row. Give every payer a chance at the pitcher position since this is the position that gets the most action.
  5. Coaches must rotate lineups as well. One suggestion is to reverse the lineup each inning. (top to bottom, then bottom to top).
  6. Runners can advance 1 base on an overthrow. On a ball hit to the outfield the batter should run the bases, but must stop once the ball enters the infield.
  7. No score is kept at this level.
  8. Batters and base runners must wear protective helmet
  9. There is no on deck circle or area to be used for practice swinging at any time. The only child who is to have a bat in his/her hand is the current batter who is under the supervision of a coach.     back to top of page
