Emphasis will be placed on the development of good, sound baseball and softball skills without sacrificing the enjoyment and fun of playing the game.

Bay State Baseball

The summer travel program is for players who want to develop and hone their skills through a continuing program of serious baseball while competing in tournaments with all-stars from cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts. The competition is keen and skills are developed through a comprehensive program running from the first week of July through the middle of August. WYBSL will select three summer travel teams, one for each for age group - U10, U11 and U12.

Summer U10, U11 and U12 travel baseball teams will compete in the Bay State Baseball Tournament of Champions and Cal Ripken Baseball tournaments.  Selection to the travel teams will be based on tryout evaluations and the player’s overall performance during the spring season.  Players must meet the age requirements per the April 30th age cut-off date per the Bay State Baseball guideline.  Although playing-up up is permitted during the spring recreation seasons, players are required to play within their age group on the tournament teams.

We recognize that a potential obstacle to making a commitment to this competitive baseball format is the conflict with family vacations during the tournament season.  Flexibility has been built into the program to allow players to schedule vacations during the season while alternate players take their place on the active roster.

Bay State 50/70 -This is a Bay State trial league for 11’s and 12’s as an intermediate step to the big diamond. The current plan is to set up a 6 game schedule. Players do not need to play on the summer Bay State teams, but can play on both. The players do need to have either played in spring ball or reside in Westford. Bay State is looking to play theses games on Friday evenings. We will look to play home games at Crisafulli.
