Baseball League Descriptions
At Kennedy Little League all registered players will be placed on a team regardless if it is a drafted league or not.
This program for boys and girls ages 4-6. It is designed to develop a players basic skills and introduce players to the game of baseball in a non-competitive environment. Teams will have 8 to 10 players; everyone will bat and play the field each inning.
T-ball will run a 6 week program with a game and/or practice scheduled 2 times per week. The season will begin the week of May 2nd, *tentatively playing on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first week will be a practice on either May 3rd or May 5th. The next week, May 10th and 12th, there will be 1 night you have a practice, and 1 night where you will have a game. Weeks 3 thru 6 will be played with games only, not to include any other weekends.
Beginner Baseball Pitching Machine
This is program to designed to introduce 6 - 7 year old players that are ready for a more advance level to the pitching machine in a non competitive environment. Players must be 6 years old for this league. *Tentatively this league will play on Mondays and Wednesdays, a few Friday games, and Saturdays.
This program is for players ages 8 - 10. Pitching is done with a pitching machine, and is designed to further develop a players basic skills and offer more competition. Teams are made up of up to 14 players. Players will participate through a tryout/skills evaluation. Teams will then be drafted by coaches.
**If a 7 year old wishes to play Minor baseball there are some requirements: 1) They must attend tryouts. 2) the player must be drafted in the first 7 rounds of the draft. If they are not drafted in that window they will be placed on a team in the beginning baseball pitching machine level. *Tentatively this league will play on Tuesday and Thursdays, a few Friday games, and Saturdays.
This league is primarily for players age 9 -11. In the Federal program players are exposed to live pitching and limited stealing. This is a league for the younger player with more advanced skills or the older player who needs more work on fundamentals. Teams are organized by a coaches draft of all available players. Teams will be capped at 12 players and 10 teams for 2015. Registered 10 and 11 year olds will be drafted to a Federal Team. Depending on the number of registrations and working with the 10 teams/12 player limit, it is possible that some 9 year olds will not be drafted at this level and moved to the Minor league. Teams will be scheduled for ~20 games. *Tentatively this league will play on Tuesday and Thursdays, a few Friday games, and Saturdays.
The Major league is primarily for 11 & 12 yr olds, 10 yr olds can be included if drafted. This is the highest level of play for this age level on the Little League size diamond. Teams are organized by a coaches draft, 10 yr olds must be drafted in specified rounds, if not drafted, they will be made available to Federal League coaches for drafting in that league. Teams will be scheduled for ~20 games. *Tentatively this league will play on Mondays and Wednesdays, a few Friday games, and Saturdays.
The Junior league is primarily for 13 & 14 yr olds, 12 yr olds completing the 6th grade can be included if drafted. 12 yr olds completing the 7th grade are automatically allowed to play Juniors, this is to allow those kids young for their grade the opportunity to play two years on the big diamond prior to starting high school. Teams are organized by a coaches draft, 12 yr olds completing the 6th grade must be drafted in rounds 4-9 only, if not drafted, they will be made available to Major League coaches for drafting in that league. Teams will be scheduled for ~18 games.
Note: 12 year olds that play in the Junior league will only be eligible to play 13 year old all-stars.
