Practice for the 2017 season will begin on Monday, July 24th for A, B & C Squads, Monday, July 31st for D Squad and Monday, August 7th, for Flag. A & B Football Squads will practice behind the St. Marie Greenhalgh Practice Field. C & D Football Squads will practice at Murphy Park. Flag team will practice behind the Putnam Elementary School. All Cheerleading Squads will practice at Murphy Park until practices are moved indoors once school begins.
A, B, C & D Football players are required to have ten (10) hours of conditioning prior to practicing in pads.
Players and Cheerleaders should come prepared to practice with the appropriate clothing, including shorts and a light-colored T-shirt and the appropriate shoes. Football players must also have an athletic cup and supporter.
All Players and Cheerleaders MUST bring a jug or bottle of water with them to every practice. Remember to drink water throughout the day. You will have the opportunity to drink water throughout the practice and you should take a drink every time you are directed to by the coaches, whether you think you are thirsty or not.
Do not eat a big meal immediately before practice.
Football Players- Practice will be held up to 5 days a week up until the first FULL WEEK of school. After that, practice will be held at your coach’s discretion. Some additional sessions, including weekends, may also be added. The coaches will communicate exceptions to the practice schedules. Please verify this information with the Head Coach of your team.
Dates and times for the Flag Football Team will be scheduled by the Head Coach of the Flag Team.
Cheerleaders- Practice will be held 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday) until the first FULL WEEK of school. After that, practice will be held at your coach’s discretion. The coaches will communicate exceptions to the practice schedules.
Only on rare occasions will practice be cancelled due to weather. If upon arrival at the park there may be a cancellation, parents are asked not to leave until a decision is made. You can also check the league website www.wptpfootball.com , our WPTP Facebook page and/or your email if you think there is the possibility of cancellation.
Parents- It is our expectation that a parent/guardian must remain at all practices / games in the event of emergency or inclement weather. If you find you musts leave, please be sure to communicate with a coach or Team Mom prior to leaving. Please always make sure that your coach has the email address and phone number that you use most often. Please also check these daily as you will receive frequent updates, especially by email.
