WHO WE ARE

The Delco Gaels is a youth athletic and social club that teaches, organizes and participates in three of the greatest games in the world, Gaelic Football, Hurling & Camogie.

The Delco Gaels is the largest and longest established Gaelic youth club in Pennsylvania.

Members are our players, families, coaches, managers, referees and supporters.   We welcome all individuals interested in the continued development of the Gaelic games or those seeking more information.

Players range in age from 4-6 (Tiny Tots Program), U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 to U18 (Minor Program).  Programs are open to girls and boys.  Girls may play with the boys or can opt to participate on Ladies teams only.

Based in the Havertown area, our members are from communities in Delaware, Chester & Montgomery Counties.

The Indoor League programs run from January through March.

The Outdoor League programs run from May to July, with optional August - October tournaments.

Outdoor training facilities are located throughout Haverford Township, and in Whitemarsh and Upper Darby Townships.  The Indoor training facility is MapleZone in Upper Chichester Township.

The Club participates in the local divisional tournament, The Philly Youth Tournament, also known as the Kieran McElwee Tournament, and travels to club tournaments in Allentown, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston and Connecticut.

In 2013, the Club hosted the first annual Lori Kiely Memorial Hurling & Camogie Tournament.

The Club also participates in the Continental Youth Championships, the largest Gaelic games tournament outside of Ireland.  The CYC is a 4-day tournament, held the last week in July or first week in August in a selected Host City (San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, New York or Philadelphia).  Philadelphia and the Gaels were the hosts in 2008 & 2013.  Over 2,000 players participate in this tournament and compete against teams from the United States, Canada, Ireland and England.

The Féile Peil na nÓg or Féile is a national festival of Gaelic football for boys and girls under 14 years of age.  It is held annually in a selected host county in Ireland.  The club has participated in the Féile since 2007.

The continued development of our players, coaches and referees is encouraged.   Camps and clinics are organized by the divisional Games Development Officer throughout the year.  Individuals interested in coaching or assisting, volunteering as an official, etc. are welcome.  Introductory (no experience or knowledge of the game necessary) and Advanced trainings are available.

The Club Banquet is a social event held annually.  The banquet is a celebration of the Club and our members.  Members who have excelled in the current year and have demonstrated the merits of the Respect campaign are recognized and our Sponsors are acknowledged for the many opportunities realized by the children because of them.

The Club continually reviews our programs and standards and works to improve them.  We aim to communicate to our members the latest News, Upcoming Events, Schedules, Rosters and Team information.

The Club has implemented tools for Online Registration, an Equipment/Uniform Exchange and an interactive area for our coaches and their players to communicate practice/game availability, travel, changes in schedule, etc.

For more information, please contact the Club or join our email list.  All inquiries will be responded to within 24 hours.
