What is required to be a certified and qualified coach for boys and girls youth coaches?
Waukesha Lacrosse Club reimburses its coaching staff for their US Lacrosse Coach Membership, background check, and required online and in-person instructional clinics. Please contact one of the directors listed below for more information.
Steps to becoming a US Lacrosse Level 1 Coach:
1) Obtain a US Lacrosse Coach Membership
Required FIRST year and renewed every year.
When obtaining your US Lacrosse COACH Membership, register under the group:
Wisconsin Chapter of US Lacrosse.
2) Obtain a NCSI background check through US Lacrosse
Required FIRST year and renewed every OTHER year.
3) Level 1 Online Course (Men's or Women's)
Required FIRST year
4) *Level 1 Instructional Clinic (Men's or Women's)
*MAYLA does allow a first year coach to be a QUALIFIED Coach which is good for 12 months and requires all steps listed with the exception of the Level 1 Instructional In Person Clinic.
5) **PCA "Double Goal Coach 1: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons"
**Required FIRST Year (Online or In Person)
If Item 4) Level 1 Instructional Clinic IS attended - this requirement may be included in the in person Instructional Clinic.
If Item 4) Level 1 Instructional Clinic is NOT attended as a first year coach - this requirement must be satisfied through an ONLINE course.
6) BOY'S ONLY: Online Course: "How to Make Proper Contact"
(Required FIRST year)
