The #2 Seed Orioles and the #5 Seed Angels competed for the 2011 Junior Division Championship. The Orioles earned their spot in the championship game with great pitching, timely hitting and strong defense with wins over the #10 Seed Padres and the #6 Seed Phillies. The #5 Seed Angels confirmed their reservation with solid defense and pitching and an offensive explosion scoring 25 runs over two games.
The game was scoreless for the first several innings until Caitlin L. unloaded for a 2-run home run! The game continued to be a pitching duel with Angels pitcher Caitlin L. and Orioles hurlers Samantha J. and Lindsey J. keeping hitters off balance all afternoon. It was 2-0 until the 6th when the Angels exploded for 7 runs and held on for the 9-0 and the Junior Division Championship.

The #1 Seed Dodgers and the #5 Seed Angels battled at Gile in semifinal action. The game was about offense as both teams showed their power with the Angels winning by a score of 16-7.
The #2 Seed Orioles hosted the #6 Seed Phillies in a semifinal matchup. It was a pitcher's duel from the start. For the Orioles, Samantha J. had 16 stike outs in 6 innings, while Olivia B. for the Phillies had 6 strike outs in 5 innings. In the bottom of the forth inning the game was tied at 1-1, Orioles Ali B. started off with a single, Lindsey J had a triple knocking in an RBI; Jane L. had a single to knock in another run. In the bottom of the fifth Hannah M. had an inside the park home run bringing the score to 4-1. In the top of the sixth the Phillies rallied to score 2 runs with Olivia B. getting a single followed by Shannon O. getting a triple and an RBI, and then scoring on a single by Haley O. Samantha J. stuck out the last batter to end the inning, leaving the score at 4-3. It was a great game from beginning to end.

The #1 Seed Dodgers hosted the #9 Seed Nationals in a 2nd round game at Gile. The game was tight for the first several innings until the Dodgers pulled way with the 22-14 win.
The #3 Seed Astros and the #6 Seed Phillies met at Andrews Park. The Astros raced out to an early lead, but the upset minded Phillies rallied from 6 down for the upset. A pitching duel between Olivia B. and Caroline M. went down to the wire with the Phillies holding the Astros from scoring in the last two innings. Shannon O. had 6 RBIs and Haley O. had big hits for the Phillies. Lilly, Nora, Bridget, Megan, Rachel and Maddy S. had big hits for the Phillies.
The #2 Seed Orioles faced off against the #10 Seed Padres at Kelly Field. The Orioles played a great games verses the Padres, with Samantha J. striking out 7 batters in 3 innings on the mound and 8 K's for Lindsey J. in the last 3 innings. All of the Orioles were hitting the ball; Ali B. got on base with 3 singles, Lindsey J. had 2 singles and a double. Abbie D. got a great single receiving an RBI. Jane L. had a nice hit, but was thrown out at first, while in the field she made a great throw to first to get the runner out. For the Padres, Meghan L. did a great job on the mound striking out 12 batter in 5 innings. They rallied back in the top of the sixth innings with an amazing shot to center field by Julia B., who made it to third, to drive in two runs, and then scored on a nice single by Ruby D. It was a well played, exciting game by both teams with the Orioles winning by a score of 8-4.
The #4 Seed White Sox hosted the #5 Seed Angels at Andrews in the Second Round of the playoffs. The Angels stormed back from a 5-3 deficit in the top of the 5th to take a 9-5 lead and made it hold up. A great effort by the WhiteSox capping of a fun year.

The Junior Division Playoffs opened up with the #7 Seed Giants facing the #10 Seed Padres. The game was tight until the late innings when the Padres erupted for 6-runs to take the lead. The Padres withstood a late inning rally by the Giants for the 11-7 win.
Andrews Park was the site for a playoff matchup featuring the #8 Seed Nationals and the #9 Seed Rangers. The Rangers, coming off solid run of winning their last 3 out of 4 games, lost to the Nationals last night as the sun set on Andrews field, 15-9. Kylie S., Ciara F. and Brigid H. pitched 4 strong innings in a losing effort to the Nationals. The Rangers scored 9 runs behind a team effort of solid hitting. The coaching staff of the Rangers thanks its All-stars Kenzie C., Courtney S. and Brigid H. for their leadership this season and best wishes in the Senior Division.
The #6 Seed Phillies hosted the #11 Seed Blue Jays at Andrews Park. The game was back and forth but in the end the Phillies out last Blue Jays 15-6 behind the excellent pitching of Olivia B. and Nora K. The defense turned 2 double plays and key hits by Shannon, Lilly, Haley and Maddy S. helped the Phillies prevail.
