Recreational (aka Rec, “C” or sometimes referred to as “house”) refers to teams that do not have a formal tryout process. Players are evaluated to determine their basic skill levels and placed on teams with the goal of having approximately even talent on each team.
The evaluations occur around the time that school starts. The schedule will be posted on the website and email will be sent to those registered.
Sno-King’s Recreational teams practice twice a week, typically once sharing a regular sized ice sheet with another team and once by themselves on the small ice at Renton.
The teams typically play one game per weekend over the winter with no games during holiday breaks and long weekends. Playing time for a position is typically allocated equally with rare exceptions in the playoffs.
Sno-King’s Recreational teams participate in the Metropolitan Hockey League in which they play against teams from around the Puget Sound area. For more information on this league check out www.MetroHockey.org
These teams are typically coached by parent volunteers. We are always on the look out for coaches that have a decent understanding of the game and can help our players develop a passion for the game. Please let our hockey director know if you or someone else is interested in helping.
These teams usually participate in a tournament or two as organized by the team manager. These tournaments are an additional cost. Sno-King hosts C tournaments and our C teams are expected to participate and help run the tournament. The list of which tournaments are when can be found on our tournaments page.
Sno-King is committed to developing our recreational and select players by providing additional training opportunities for those that are interested in developing quicker.
During the winter, our current programs include weekly goalie clinics, public skating, and stick and puck sessions. During the spring and summer we offer a selection of programs for those that want to continue past the regular season.
